🛠️ The Problem Isn’t Your Writing… It’s Your Direction
The flow overtakes you so that you write and write. But without a path, you lose where you want to go. The reader loses interest. You can write beautiful sentences and still feel lost. Because without direction, writing becomes wandering. Story First asks: 👉 What is this book moving toward?' Not the plot. Not the scenes. The movement. In my paid tiers I talk more about Story First method, where the first steps are made in creating a book. Comment below with one sentence: “My story moves from ___ to ___.”

When life happens, the writing changes
It’s been a while since I’ve been on here, and I wanted to come back and share a little of what’s been happening behind the scenes. The past few months have been a lot. What was meant to be a routine operation in January turned into two ICU visits and three hospital stays. It was one of those periods that reminds you very quickly that we’re not in control. Somewhere in the middle of that, I found myself coming back to my book, and something shifted. I realised I didn’t want to just finish it as it was. I wanted to rewrite it. To go deeper. To be more honest. To drop the mask and just say it as it is. And looking back… a book that was 85% “done” suddenly felt surface level. I’ve written a couple of new chapters since then that feel completely different to anything I had before. There’s a rawness to them that only really came through in that period of discomfort, and strangely, that’s where some of my best writing has come from. Since then, with everything else happening here in the UAE, I’ve been trying to find my rhythm again. It’s not quite there yet, but I know this book needs to be written, and it will be. I’m really glad to be back here @Dani Rosenblad James , and if anyone would be open to reading some of the new writing at some point, I’d love to share.

That’s wonderful and that awareness when we go through turmoils in life helps tremendously! I’m happy that you saw the good side of what you’re going through and that you are back to writing your book! Maybe @Shawn Helgerson @Ryan Clark @Michael Teferi or anyone else would be interested in checking out parts of your book? It’s great to have you back in the community!

✨ Finishers Decide Early
Writers who finish don’t wait for certainty. Instead, they commit before they feel ready. And this can be scary. 😩 But it’s when we go all in that magic happens! Think of Dr. Seuss. He had NO idea that his books would become so famous that they would even create a day for the year for his books! 📚 He even went through being rejected 27 times and almost giving up, when everything changed for the better for him. Even though he wasn’t certain about the outcome when he reached out to those publishers, he kept doing it! He kept pushing himself when others didn’t see his dream. 💭 Let’s be honest: 🧐 Are you committed? 🤨 Or still considering? There’s no judgment here. This is something that’s good to reflect on. This helps you see if you are actually committed, or if you find logical reasons not to take the steps towards finishing your book. 📕 Write it out and if you want, you can share it in the comments. 💬 Writing it helps solidify what you reflected on. Look it over. Is it true? What’s the next step to do for you now to make this book part of your reality?

✨ Your Story Isn’t Stuck, It’s Undefined
Most writers don’t stall because they’re lazy. They stall because the core shift of the story isn’t clear yet. Story First isn’t about writing more. It’s about knowing what your story is actually doing. Think of what you want to come from your published book. 📖 Do you want to get on stages and share your story? 🗣️ Do you want to make an impact, get more clients? 🙌 Are you just wanting to share your story to the right people? Ideal readers? 📚 👉 What changes in your reader (or main character) from beginning to end of your book? 📕 Drop it below, even if it’s messy.
