Day 10
10th day into academy. Humbled by ladders today. On-air SCBA as a class for the first time. Interesting experience. Glad I was able to overcome that new feeling.

Love to hear it. Every class has that one skill that humbles you, and ladders are definitely one of them. The fact that you pushed through your first time on air is a big win. Keep stacking those small victories every day and you’ll be surprised how comfortable it all feels in a few weeks. Keep it up! 🫡
Fire academy PAT
Hey what’s going on everyone just wanna introduce my self I’m Anderson just completed EMT at BC and I plan on going to BFA in the spring I’m currently training for the PAT which is the 12th of September so if anyone’s has any tips or a general idea how it’s built I would very much appreciate it bless you all

Welcome to the group, Anderson! Congrats on finishing EMT. 💪 For the PAT, I would focus on building your cardio, leg endurance, and getting comfortable moving with weight. Lots of stairs, hill sprints, weighted carries, and functional workouts will go a long way. Since you’re planning on BFA in the spring, you have plenty of time to build a strong foundation. If you’re local, come out to one of our free group workouts sometime. We do a lot of academy style training and it will give you a good idea of what to expect. Looking forward to seeing you out there!
Question on EMT school
So I’m trying to become an emt and idk if I should take an online class that is just for ems school (RC health services) or go to my Lone Star college instead. Or just if anyone has any tips please lmk!

I’d go through Lone Star if you can. Having instructors, classmates, and hands-on practice makes a huge difference, especially for skills. Online can work for some people, but if it’s your first time getting into EMS, I’d lean toward the college route. Either way, stay consistent with studying and practice your patient assessments early. Good luck!
Hello
Hello, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Ricardo, and I'm currently in the military. I want to transition into being a firefighter when my contract is over. I have until March 19th of 2028. I'm curious if any other people here have made that transition and are willing to talk. Thank you hope you have a good day if you're reading this

Welcome Ricardo! Glad to have you here. You’ve got a great amount of time to prepare before March 2028, which honestly puts you in a really good position. We have quite a few members here who are military or have made that transition, so hopefully they’ll chime in too. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to ask any questions as you go. Jump into the discussions, join the free workouts if you’re ever in South Florida, and we’ll help make that transition as smooth as possible. Looking forward to following your journey! 💪🚒
