Does your kid like school?
One of the biggest stresses for us all is school (that includes teen and parent 😅). I actually work with a lot of homeschoolers who said their kids weren't a big fan of the system and they wanted to take education into their own hands. On the other hand, I work with some kids who love going to school everyday! Are your kids a fan of school?

My kids dont like school even though they like some of their teachers. My youngest teen is planning to go to a residential school or online school next school year. My oldest is in her last year so she’s more used to the disappointment and enjoys some aspects of school but its more that she’s focused on how her academic career will impact her life once she graduates. My kids are in public high school but did a lot of time as homeschoolers or in private school.

@Jordan Pickard Homeschool was great until we moved to a smaller town and it became harder for them to get quality social experiences. They went to the private Montessori school because I taught there, then we moved and I started a Homeschool co-op which I'd started before and worked well but the second time around it worked well for my youngest kid but not my oldest who were tweens and teens at the time.
The Hero's Journey - what quest are you proud of this year
"A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself." - Joseph Campbell It's getting awfully close to holiday season and that means a couple of things; 1. Time to reflect 2. The feeling that I don't have to reflect When we do find ourselves caught in these moments where life is overwhelming. Remember that these moments that challenge us and make us feel exhausted and worn out, are really moments that are helping build a wiser, stronger version of ourselves. We don't normally realise this until we look back into the past. When you do look back into the past (and present) of 2025, what is the quest or the challenge that you are most proud of for overcoming?

I’m most proud of myself for being relentless and not giving up on my goals when things got hard.
You asked, we deliver (emotional regulation)
Emotional regulation and understanding the teen brain are currently in the classroom! If you want to understand your teen and have the exact scripts that you need to get the most out of their emotional and mental health - go and watch the videos and start walking through the scripts. WARNING: you may bring too much calm to the home! Post the wins when you're ready 🔥

Thank you! It looks really nice! I'm reading through it now..
What’s something you wish you had been taught as a teenager?
I was chatting to a mum on Friday who homeschools her kids and I asked her why this is. She replied, "because I want to teach my kids life skills that would've helped me at school". I know one of the most common challenges with the modern school system is a lack of opportunity and freedom in learning skills, particularly life skills. So I ask, what is one thing you wish you learned at school when you were growing up?

So many things honestly, relationship skills, how to have a healthy schedule, how to manage your medical needs, finances, how to choose a home, how to choose a career, I could go on and on.

@Jordan Pickard I agree some could have just been touched on and it would have helped me to know what I didnt know, at least enough to know where to look. On the other hand relationships and finances can very quickly ruin your life if you’re out of your depth.
Breaking the Anxiety Cycle
Hey Purposeful Parents, if you're teen is feeling the pressure of the world on their shoulders right now and are caught in the anxiety, depression, shutdown cycle. Here's a video that will help break down some of the strategies that I use to manage anxiety in our teens. It will also help you to prime the right time to have those difficult conversations that may be upsetting and overwhelming for your teen. Check it out and let me know what you think!

This is great Jordan! I know that my teens are more sedentary than they need to be, I am a big walker so I will bring them on my walks and remember to wait until after to have the big conversations!
