9.13 - Goethite
This is a very weird specimen of Goethite. Normally it’s black and crystalline and sourced in Germany. This is from Michigan apparently. I thought it was a ancient seashell fossil. Either way, that amber color and waxy surface is gorgeous.

Wow!!
Introduce Yourself
Hello fellow Rockheads πŸͺ¨πŸ™‚, If you love rocks in any capacity, this is your new community. We’re here to share anything and everything rocks, because rocks are awesome. Write a brief intro about yourself and how long you’ve had an interest, your collection, and anything else you want people to know. ROCKS ROCK! Here’s a template to help you get started: Hi my name is ____ and I love rocks. Ive been looking at/collecting for ____. I have (number of rocks in your possession at the moment). My favorite thing(s) about rocks is ____. I’ll start: Hi my name is Paul and I love rocks. I’ve been picking up and looking at them for as long as I can remember. I probably have thousands (I’ve never done a full count) between my childhood home and my current apartment in Brooklyn, NY. My favorite thing about rocks is no matter how mundane, each and every one has a fascinating story of churning through millions upon millions of years of earth movement and depositing. You pick up a rock and you’re often holding something that was around at the time of the dinosaurs. Also they are stunningly beautiful and endlessly unique. No two are exactly the same and I absolutely love that.

Omg this is my Graceland!!! I am the unlimited rock nerd. I just wish I had more time. I live on camano island and my beach is sometimes rocky sometimes handy. So I get the best that the beach can offer. Rocks have been following me home for only a short time but there is mass of them. When I go in, I go BIG. I HAVE 9 tumblers going and 4 broken down, they sure don't make them to last. But im thrilled to be here. Im gonna show off and I have many identification issues due to my 10th grade geology class oh by the way it was 30plus years ago . But none the less, thrilled!!!!! GOD BLESS.
10.2 - 🚨 New Category! 🚨 - "πŸͺ¨ ❓What is this Rock?"
Excited to announce a new category for the group: πŸͺ¨ ❓What is this Rock? This will act pretty much exactly like the Reddit group of the same name. I just ask posts in this category follow 3 simple rules: 1. Identify where you found it 2. Share clear image(s) 3. Offer short description of what you think it is. I'll start off with this lil guys I found in a lake near Redding, CT. What is it? So many striations, also looks like there's little iron deposits on the edge. I thought it was obsidian or basalt, but the striations throw me off. Any guesses?
