I’m currently reading “Mating in Captivity” by Esther Perel & it dives into the topics of keeping erotic aliveness in commited partnerships. It’s an absolutely fascinating & powerful piece of work for those who want it all, the safety, romance & passion. One of the biggest problems with modern day relationships is that modern society tells us to turn to one person to fulfill what an entire village once did. We’ve lost touch with community & expression in the search for intimacy & it squashes our erotic aliveness. There has been relationships in the past where all I wanted was closeness with my beloved & in that process I let go of the things that kept me in my essence. I Stopped hanging out with friends, let go of hobbies & groups I was in. Hilariously in the attempt to get closer with my partner created the opposite affect. Passion & Eros need space to breathe. We need sisterhood & community where we can get our needs met. We need to dance, move & create. We need the things that make us feel like us. Our own secret garden. And that’s why I’m so grateful for this community & all of you! Here’s to the exploration of having it all 💋
