🧵 UFO Rescue Mission! 🚀
Have you got an Un-Finished Object (UFO) hiding somewhere in your sewing room? 😊 We've all got them... those projects that started with great excitement and somehow found their way into a basket, drawer or cupboard! This weekend, instead of starting something new, why not choose just one unfinished project and spend 15 minutes with it. No pressure to finish it. Just find it, unfold it, admire how far you've already come... and perhaps stitch a seam or two. I'd love to see what resurfaces! 📸 Pop a photo in the comments—even if it's only a pile of pieces or a project bag. Every finished quilt was once an unfinished project. Let's encourage each other to give those forgotten projects a little love. 💛

@Angi Lanciano I free motion all my work. I started by just practice on scraps sandwiched and then I actually meandered a quilt. As time went on, with practice, I developed new quilting patterns. I can actually quilt a king sized quilt now. I use my HQ Stitch 710 and I turn it dudeways to help with bulk. I bought a table especially for free motion from Sew Steady. The set up works almost like a sit down longarm. You shoukd try it; watch you tubers do it. It definitely saves me money as I do not have longarmer cost. This is a picture of my set up with a quilt under the needle. It looks complicated but it really is fun ... mostly. I have a large practice sandwich that I work with evety time before I start just to make sure all is working well for me. I frequently clean machine and change needles at least once for every project. I spray badge and then iron before I start. It helps to prevent wrinkles on the back. Go for it. You will love it!

Most of the time it is pretty neat, but not always. Especially when I am in gift giving mode, like at Christmas!

New quilts
I made an eagle block to donate for a 250th America birthday quilt raffle. It was paper pieced which I have done a little of. I do not sew through the paper. Rather, I fold it back and sew right beside the fold. But this one had some pretty small pieces and had to be very close to exactly 12 1/2" squares. In the end, I was happy with it.

Be honest... what's the oldest piece of fabric in your stash?
I do actually have a couple of pieces of antique fabric, but I also have lots of older fabrics that I have been reluctant to use as I wouldn't have them any more! Do you older fabrics, we would love to hear about them.

☕ Around the Cutting Table
What's one quilting tool you couldn't be without? Is there something that you use regularly and would feel lost without? Like a rotary cutter? Sewing machine? specific scissors? or....? Do let us know. Fo me I think it might be the rotary cutter - I have been quilting for a long time and can remember the days before the rotary cutter, it made such a difference to cutting out quilt pieces.

I have 5 sewing machines. I love them all for different reasons but there is one that i can do everything that all the others do and more. I woukd have to say it is my favorite tool. One machine iI have is about 80 years old and was given to me by my son in law. It is an old Singer 201 in a beautiful cabinet. It belonged to his grandmother. Another is over 40 years old. It was my first really good sewing machine. It is an Elna Jubilee. Both of these still stitch beautifully. The other 3 are much more modern and all these machines serve specific purposes. But I woukd be lost without my rulers and my 3 sizes of rotary cutters. They have helped me to really advance my quilting skills.
