Video 2 assignment - The Cash DPT Rookie Assignment as a cash PT in outpatient ortho almost 15 years out of school
Assignment #1: My biggest takeaway is importance of marketing and business skills to make sure I’m successful. I’m an excellent clinician and doing well so far but I fear it’s beginner’s luck. Could also just be my business anxiety. Assignment #2: My biggest concern/challenge is continuing to get people in the door. It’s hard to weed out what’s legit and going to work for marketing and website SEO. I get so much spam and struggle to figure out where to focus my time with marketing.

Hey @Lisa Pietrowiak - love your answers. the best thing I can say about weeding out who is legit. look for someone who has achieved exactly what you want. If you want a lifestyle business that pays you a comfortable salary but prioritizes work life balance - work with someone who has achieved that. If you want a practice that pays you high 6 figures/year and you dont have to treat anymore, work with someone who is currently doing that, etc. Generally (im sure their are exceptions) we stay away from agencies and marketing companies. some are great (most are awful) but even the great ones you usually end up with a dependency on. Say you find a great agency that does your marketing (ads, seo, etc) and they suddenly shut down or triple their prices - puts you in a really tough spot. we have a rule in our business - know enough to know what great looks like - have a proven process - then delegate and hand someone that process. (staff, Virtual assistant, marketing group, etc)
Assignment 1
- Where are you from? I’m from Cottage Grove, Wisconsin near Madison - What stage is your practice at (financial or # of patients/month)? I opened my cash PT practice in September of 2025. I am 6 months in and I am scheduled to treat 22 hours per week. I am currently seeing about 55-60 patients a month. This month I’m on track to make just over $8-9K in revenue. - What are you looking to learn? How to work smarter and not harder and where to focus my energy so I don’t get burnt out.

@Lisa Pietrowiak - welcome! most of the Clinical Marketer team is from WI - always great to see a fellow wisconsinite in here. Do you mind if I ask about your pricing? What are you charging per visit (on average) and how are your current patients finding you?
Stop Guessing Assignment [sports/ortho, 2024]
Assignment #1: My biggest takeaway is Hustling for clients is respectable and necessary at first, but it’s not sustainable in the long run. Assignment #2: My biggest concern/challenge is My biggest concern right now is not being able to properly identify the holes in my business infrastructure and knowing exactly where to focus to build a more predictable, scalable practice

@Tt Def speaking our language! the key to business is identifying your constraint and working on the right thing - instead of spinning your tires working on a little bit of everything burning yourself out. Thats what the practice building academy is all about - excited for you to unlock it
Intro post
Hello from Maine! I’m an athletic trainer looking to open his own practice so currently I’m at 0 patients per month.. I’m looking to learn how to run a successful practice that gives me my time and family back.

Welcome @Tom Marshall! Thats what its all about, building something that gives us the freedom to spend all the time we want with our family - you're in the right spot!
Assignment 2: Why Most PT's Fail Before They Start
Biggest Takeaway: Cash patients invest in clarity and trust. When you understand their problem and communicate the solution with confidence, price becomes secondary. I’ve also learned that imperfect action creates momentum — waiting for perfect only delays growth. Biggest Challenge: My priority now is eliminating hesitation and executing consistently. That means building reliable patient acquisition systems, strengthening my business skill set, and operating like the CEO of my practice — not just the clinician.
