The "Cigarette" Warning for Junk Food 🚬🍔
The Verdict is In; Ultra-Processed Foods Labeled as "Addictive as Tobacco" A groundbreaking global study released just days ago (February 2026) has sent shockwaves through the food industry. Researchers from three major US universities have concluded that Ultra-Processed Foods (UPFs); like sodas, factory-made sweets, and fast food; should be regulated exactly like cigarettes. The study argues that these foods are not 'food' in the traditional sense; they are 'carefully engineered substances' designed to bypass our fullness signals and trigger addiction. This follows another alarming report from February 7th showing that for cancer survivors, a high-UPF diet increases the risk of recurrence by a staggering 59%. The Kitchen Passport Take: This is the core of our mission. When scientists start saying that a donut should be regulated like a pack of Marlboros, it’s time to stop calling industrial products 'food.' This is why we focus on fermentation, raw ingredients, and traditional methods. We aren't just 'cooking'; we are reclaiming our health from a system designed to keep us addicted. https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2026/feb/03/public-health-ultra-processed-foods-regulation-cigarettes-addiction-nutrition?hl=en-GB If junk food started carrying the same graphic warning labels as cigarettes (e.g., 'This product causes heart disease'), do you think it would change how people shop? Or is the addiction already too deep? Let’s discuss the 'Warning Label' future! 🛑🍦

Couldn’t agree more! Especially on the egg thing, one of the best multivitamins I’ve found second only to beef liver. That’s another reason why the cow is so magical. The organs and offals are the best hack for anyone looking to get more out of life. Eating liver and heart and bone broth and meat stock and utilizing the whole animal is a life hack. You will thrive eating the whole animal more so than any supplement on the market. If people change their mindset around eating offals and build the habit of doing it every day they’ll notice the aches and pains and brainfog vanishing before their eyes. Not to mention if they combine that with removing UPFs they can heal their metabolism from the outside in.

@Bogdan Ion yeah when I found out that’s the case about methionine having to be balanced by glycine it changed the way I look at food. You’re a bunch of chemical reactions that have to go just right in order to function optimally and it shouldn’t surprise us that eating the whole animal naturally does this automatically. I’m not sure my advice would help someone who is grossed out by offals, I started out eating them frozen and raw. I’d buy liver frozen, thaw it, cut it up into pieces the size of a quarter or so and freeze them again so I could easily pop one out a day and chew it up. Cooking introduces that metallic taste that people complain about. If you must cook it just make a pâté by cooking it with butter for a minute or 2 per side and mix it with some chili powder and 100% cacao and salt and a bit of honey if you want. Blend that up into a paste and eat it like candy!
Food is Health" $30M Revolution 🏥🥕
Breaking News: Medicine and Meals are Finally Merging! Just announced this morning (Feb 13, 2026): A massive national campaign called 'Food is Health' has launched with a $30 million investment. The goal? To prove that nutritious food isn't just 'nice to have' it is a foundational part of disease prevention and treatment. The Kitchen Passport Take: For years, the medical world and the food world lived in different buildings. Today, that wall is falling. This initiative treats food insecurity and poor nutrition as 'clinical risks' meaning doctors are beginning to see a bag of fresh vegetables as just as important as a bottle of pills. It’s a huge win for our 'Real Food' mission! https://www.cummingsfoundation.org/grants/?hl=en-GB If your doctor could 'prescribe' you a weekly basket of artisanal, local produce instead of a supplement, would you take it? Or do you think the medical system is too late to the party? 🥦💊

@Bogdan Ion we can only hope it keeps moving upward away from the grips of systemic rot and oversight!

@Bogdan Ion I’d say the biggest lie I had to overcome was that doctors aren’t infallible. They’re just people who went through a process and society gives them a blanket pardon from their humanity and they become god-like in our minds. I can tell some nauseating stories from my own journey through the medical system but it opened my eyes and lifted the veil that covered the mountain of lies (that most doctors don’t even know are falsehoods) because they don’t have the time and like their jobs too much to dig into it and face scrutiny or worse.

The Global War on "Fake" Food 🍞🥗
The End of the "Hidden Ingredient" Era? France Makes a Historic Move! The culinary world is buzzing with news that could change the way we shop forever. Following a landmark vote in the French National Assembly, France has officially moved to make the Nutri-Score labeling system mandatory for all pre-packed foods as of 2026. Why this is a massive deal: For years, labeling was voluntary. This meant that the 'junk food leaders' could hide behind complicated back-of-pack fine print. Now, it's mandatory. This reform is specifically designed to combat Ultra-Processed Foods (UPFs) and support healthy choices like cereals, pulses, and minimally processed foods. Lawmakers even went a step further, arguing that traditional, artisanal products (like those with PDO/AOP status) should be celebrated, while mass-produced factory foods should finally be exposed for what they are. Why this matters to us at Kitchen Passport: As we master artisanal skills like sourdough, long-fermentation, and scratch-cooking, this news validates everything we stand for. Real food doesn't need a marketing team; it just needs quality ingredients. The world is finally shifting from 'counting calories' to 'counting processes'. https://www.foodtimes.eu/consumers-and-health/nutri-score-france-mandatory/?hl=en-GB Look at the last 3 things you bought from a grocery store. If they had a 'Transparency Label' from A (Natural/Healthy) to E (Ultra-Processed), where would they land? Are you ready to trade convenience for clarity? Let’s get real in the comments! 👇
