Combos
Woke up this morning thinking about combo tours. You know - bundling experiences into one: like airport transfer + Blue Lagoon + hotel drop-off, or Golden Circle + Secret Lagoon, or even South Coast + glacier hike + lunch. Is that the way to go? One simple booking, less planning for the guest, and everything nicely wrapped up. Or… is it better to let people book one thing at a time and build their own adventure? Just thinking out loud - curious if others have tried both. What sells better in your experience: single tours or all-in-one combos? Would love to hear your thoughts. I’m in brainstorm mode this morning

Hey Nicky. Let's get into this journey together.
Hello everyone!
I'm Matt, co-founder of Car Buddy – a small, family-run travel company based in Iceland. We operate mostly in and around Reykjavík, specializing in private airport transfers and tailor-made day tours like the Golden Circle, South Coast, and Snæfellsnes. We’re all about personal service, local insight, and creating a warm, reliable experience that stands apart from the typical big-bus operations. Think: comfortable cars, friendly drivers, flexible routes, and no mass tourism. Where we’re at now: We’ve been steadily building this business from scratch and currently handle around 20 bookings per month – mostly through OTAs like Viator, GetYourGuide, Welcome Pickups, and Talixo. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but it’s clear we need to scale up to survive long-term. Our main challenges: – Breaking through the noise. Competing with large, established companies and high-ranking OTAs is really tough – especially as a small team with a limited budget. – Too dependent on OTAs. They help with visibility, but take a big cut and keep us disconnected from our customers. We really want to increase direct bookings and grow our own brand. – Marketing struggles. We’ve launched Google Ads and Meta Ads (FB/IG/WhatsApp), and we’re testing different campaign types, creative angles, and keywords – but results are average at best. – Finding our voice. We’re investing time in storytelling, SEO, and refining our product descriptions (on Viator, our website, etc.) to better convey the real value of what we offer. – Revenue still inconsistent. Transfers bring in daily income, but we’re aiming to grow the tour side of the business too. It’s not easy without big reviews or volume. Why I’m here: We’re passionate about Iceland, travel, and giving people a genuine experience — but we know we can’t grow this business alone. We’re here to learn, exchange ideas, and connect with people who’ve walked a similar path. Thanks for having me! Matt from Car Buddy – www.carbuddy.is

I'm just looking for new ideas how to boost the company. We struggle with very tough competition. Truly believe I'll find here what I'm looking for.
