High School Varsity Team - Tournament planning
Hey Coaches, I'm not sure if this is an appropriate place to post this, but if there are any teams that are looking for a new travel experience (we're up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), we host a great event with 12 Sr Varsity Boys teams, 8 Sr Varsity Girls teams, 6 Jr Varsity boys and 6 Jr Varsity girls - all at once school over the course of 3 days (Dec 10-12, 2026). Annually we host teams from all across Canada, as well as teams from coast to coast in the USA (primarily from NY and Cal). We are able to help subsidize part of the costs as we know travel gets very expensive. If you have any interest in exploring a new experience, send me a DM and I'll happily send you more information.
Rose Series Ball Screens
My team struggles to create an advantage through fingers and swing. Would you recommend running those actions with ball screens to help get 2 to the ball?

I could be mistaken - but I believe the 3 big actions in rose series are Fingers, Fan and Follow (follow being ball screen), so yes I think that would be relevant. Ball screen can certainly help bring 2 to the ball as long as your kids are able to punish the coverage and then keep advantage I would say go for it. I think a big piece to remember is that no action alone creates an advantage, fingers is great for creating space to attack, playing through a bump and finding ways to get to dangerous spots on the course. It may simply be a matter of getting your strongest creators in those spots to attack the huge gaps created, on my teams I always have a few advantage creator and others that can keep an advantage once it's created but can't create that for themselves. Good luck!

Families of Actions
Not sure if this is “new” content, but I put together my own presentation on families of actions. Defining it, understanding it conceptually, and providing some examples. If anyone wants to give it a gander and give me any feedback that would be great. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/11P0bbiwDd2oBDvRHL65gGqgM3n3IsNi8iPafW0j3bo0/edit

@George Smith One way that has been discussed on here previously would be to change your shape. For example - when you run fan, you can lift the weakside dunker to the High Post which you could use as a trigger to get into the action where you previously had one of guards in the action spot call up the porch to into the get action or dribble hand off with the corner followed by at ball screen at the strong side elbow. Another simple trigger to change your action could be a bounce out off of a fingers cut - this could be another opportunity to life your porch. Or if at any point if your porch player is low you're looking at Rose Series, and if they're High then that's your trigger to play out of get game or whatever other series you may be looking to run.
