My neighbor across the street thinks she’s slick.
One morning a few weeks ago I heard a knock. By the time I opened the door, nobody was there. Hanging from the doorknob was a bag with vanilla wafers, six bananas, heavy cream, and a note: “I saw your pictures on Facebook and didn’t know how to ask you to make me one. If you are so inclined, I promise to return the dish.” No signature. Didn’t need one. I knew exactly who it was. It was my neighbor from across the street except she couldn't move that fast so she had to have had her grandchildren deliver it. What’s a baker supposed to do? I made the banana pudding. I even whipped the cream. In the Academy, we spend a lot of time talking about technique, starters, hydration and crumb. But sometimes we forget the simplest reason most of us started baking. We love to feed people. That spirit is at the heart of Crust & Crumb Academy. We learn together, get better together, and occasionally get ambushed by neighbors carrying bananas. If that sounds like your kind of community, come find us here: www.skool.com/crust-crumb-academy Come bake with us.

Love this story.
What do you collect?
This just came up in convos that people collect some really cool things. Some things for sentimental reasons and some because they are worth money. The item we were talking about were the old school lunchboxes that have become collector items. So, what do you collect? And why? I collect essential oils 🤣 or I have a large collection of them that I use! And I collect books ... someday I will read them!

I collect dragons, yarn, and books. Cats seem to collect me.
The "nothing to cook" fridge game
Ever stood in front of your fridge with random bits and no idea what to make? So let's play a little game. Drop 2-3 ingredients you've got sitting in your fridge or cupboard right now (veg, meat, whatever) in the comments, and I'll reply with a quick idea using just a few everyday spices. A few things you'll notice once you try it: - Most Indian dishes only need a handful of spices, not a cupboard full - You can turn almost any veg or protein into something good with the right technique - It's way more forgiving than people think mistakes usually still taste fine - You'll stop wasting food because you'll always have an idea for what's in the fridge Drop your ingredients below and let's see what I can make 👇
