Grand Teton National Park offers virtual classroom experiences.
There are some great natural resources virtual learning experiences through our national parks. Grand Tetons National Park is excited to bring back their Snow Desk for a fun, interactive virtual learning experience for your K–5 students! Park rangers broadcast LIVE to classrooms from a desk made entirely of snow at the base of the Teton Range. Rangers will talk with your students about animal adaptations, snow science, the water cycle, and more. Surviving Winter (Grades K–3) Explore how animals in Grand Teton change how they look, where they live, and what they eat to survive winter. Every Snowflake Counts (Grades 3–5) Learn why snow matters, how it fits into the water cycle, and how you can conserve precious water resources. They're pretty amazing resources. I'm glad to share them.
National Park Internships and Volunteer Opportunities
My son Gabriel volunteered in Shenandoah National Park for 3 years, and his experience led him to his career in the park service. This opportunity is an excellent way for young people to gain valuable work experience while working outdoors and learning about the national park system. https://www.nps.gov/subjects/youthprograms/jobs-and-internships.htm
The Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman, MT offers virtual classes and hands-on learning crates.
My husband and I just got back from visiting our son, who works at Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park. While in Montana, we checked out this museum. It offers fun virtual classes and curiosity crates to help your family, classroom, or homeschool student learn about natural history. What a great way to explore this region! As a former homeschool mom, these kinds of programs were so helpful in rounding out Gabriel's education and exploration of nature. https://museumoftherockies.org/virtual-programs?fbclid=IwY2xjawO_8wlleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEefebRWYNDKlBGjABE-7SBiwg64b4tZuX5nAcc9zrz0wRNgppy9nPn7OemPoI_aem_et-NLoA9QaXj1Sh7hxJFtw

I’m Mary, and I met Kasie through VIPKid, where we both taught ESL classes to kiddos in China. I homeschooled/unschooled my son K–12. He’s now 26 years old and works as a park ranger in Yellowstone National Park. One fun fact about me is that Gabriel and I were once caught in the middle of a bear fight while camping in Shenandoah National Park.
