Wat do you call this...
Whilst I'm sewing, my eldest daughter is making an avocado cushion. She's mentioned her stuffing, and my brain just could not remember what it was called!! Just shows, if we don't use a material, haberdashery item, sewing style or discipline for some time, we can forget .. I've made props, costumes, pillow and much more with wadding. So, what do you call it? Drop your answers in comments, let's see f it has a different name in different countries 👇 This is what the group is about, remembering, learning, educating, nurturing our love around sewing 🪡

Thank you for starting this group I am really enjoying the comments and sharing. I think the comment from the Asian woman was metaphorical and I agree only bugs can I ever swat...especially if they are trying to bite me, those pesky mosquitos...lol

Intro to the Atelier Hub family
Hi, my official name is Mary D. Huddleston, but I prefer to be called m.d., I just passed my 90th birthday and am still going strong! I've been a sewer all my life with detours into other crafts and the fashion industry, where because I was representing Saks Fifth Avenue in New Orleans as their Fashion/PR Director for the new store they had opened in 1983, I had to "Saksify" my wardrobe as I remember telling my husband. To cut a very long story short, if anyone has further interest, check out my FaceBook pages under my official name or, PeaceWraps or on my new website, which is still a work in progress : www.vintagetreassuresbyauntie.com After retiring, and moving to Plano, Texas, I returned to my first love; sewing, but I no longer started from scratch; after re-discovering the fun of thrifting when searching for silks to use in weaving my scarves and accessories. I also "discovered" that there were treasures to be found in gently worn clothing especially if you had an eye for what to look for and the creativity to re-imagine what it could become with a little, or a lot of "tweaking" from me. I also realized that I would not live long enough to finish all the things in my closets. Which led to my realization that if I died before I cleaned out my closets, these treasures might end up in a landfill! Hence the website where I could sell my treasures to someone who would appreciate the items I have collected and curated over a lifetime. My living room is now a Virtual Vintage Workshop where I can showcase my treasures and be sure that they escape the landfill and find some fun on someone else's back, or in the case of the "Work-in-Progress" become the project for someone else to finish. I hope that in meeting all of you, someone out there will take up the challenge. Sent out with Love in the Joy of the Creative Process... AuntieM

Thank you Claire Amelia, Yes, I am currently doing an inventory of what I have in my stash so that I can decide what I can/want to do myself and with what I have and then pass the others on to anyone who is interested in completing what I have started. I joined the Atelier Hub because it seemed like the best place to find fashionista's who also like to sew and also have a passion for preservation. I am also in the "Catherine Sews" group and between these two Skool groups , I should be able to find interested "peeps", as Catherine says....lol....Now I just have to figure out HOW!
