Intro to the Atelier Hub family
Hi, my official name is Mary D. Huddleston, but I prefer to be called m.d., I just passed my 90th birthday and am still going strong! I've been a sewer all my life with detours into other crafts and the fashion industry, where because I was representing Saks Fifth Avenue in New Orleans as their Fashion/PR Director for the new store they had opened in 1983, I had to "Saksify" my wardrobe as I remember telling my husband. To cut a very long story short, if anyone has further interest, check out my FaceBook pages under my official name or, PeaceWraps or on my new website, which is still a work in progress : www.vintagetreassuresbyauntie.com After retiring, and moving to Plano, Texas, I returned to my first love; sewing, but I no longer started from scratch; after re-discovering the fun of thrifting when searching for silks to use in weaving my scarves and accessories. I also "discovered" that there were treasures to be found in gently worn clothing especially if you had an eye for what to look for and the creativity to re-imagine what it could become with a little, or a lot of "tweaking" from me. I also realized that I would not live long enough to finish all the things in my closets. Which led to my realization that if I died before I cleaned out my closets, these treasures might end up in a landfill! Hence the website where I could sell my treasures to someone who would appreciate the items I have collected and curated over a lifetime. My living room is now a Virtual Vintage Workshop where I can showcase my treasures and be sure that they escape the landfill and find some fun on someone else's back, or in the case of the "Work-in-Progress" become the project for someone else to finish. I hope that in meeting all of you, someone out there will take up the challenge. Sent out with Love in the Joy of the Creative Process... AuntieM
