Changing this community focus!
I've decided to focus solely in Spanish for English speakers as Multilinguist as a whole is a very complex concept to teach others while also community building. Hope everyone feels good with this choice! either way the space for debating languages as a whole will always be there.

The First Grammar of a Modern European Language
In the same year Columbus sailed to the Americas, 1492, Antonio de Nebrija published the "Gramática de la lengua castellana". This was the first-ever grammar book written for a modern European language, setting a precedent for how languages would be studied and standardized for centuries to come.

I don't teach Tagalog, but it's great to have native speakers here! I love how deeply related Tagalog and Filipino culture are to Spanish culture. Despite the complex history of the colonial period, the linguistic bond remains undeniable, it’s amazing how many words we share! Cheese being 'Queso' and 'Keso' , Glass being 'Vaso' and 'Baso' , so many!!

The Arabic Influence is Everywhere
Did you know that over 4,000 words in Spanish come directly from Arabic? This is a result of the Moorish rule in the Iberian Peninsula for over 700 years. Many words that start with "al-" are of Arabic origin, like alfombra (carpet), almohada (pillow), and algodón (cotton).
