KNOW YOUR WORTH & IT’S OKAY TO RENEGOTIATE 🤝
Just wanted to put this out there, a client contacted me while at a dealership that I was servicing and wanted to know if I could squeeze his 2 Lexus’s in. (02 SC 430 & 14 GS 350 F Sport) Sure bring it by the dealership. The SC done in 35 minutes, then they bring back the GS 🤔 (mind you I did a Burgandy GS yesterday 40 minutes) I figured no sweat, boy was I wrong. Someone had put extra thick clear and was peeling 🤦🏽‍♂️. I explained to them it would be an extra charge to remove all the old clear. I told them it would be $300 for the GS (fog lights included) and $150 for the SC. The gentleman stated he could probably get replacement ones for the GS online for cheaper. I said be my guest and look. OEM was outrageous and aftermarket was a little better. I had him google “thoughts on aftermarket headlights from China🤣. After 10 minutes or so, the wife side he’s right, just let him do them since we are here already. 2 hours of prep work later on the GS they looked factory new again. I spent 20 years in the car business wearing various hats (before starting my headlight business) and love negotiating. I was definitely bought back great memories at the negotiating table. $450 on 2 Lexus’s.

Love it! Thanks for sharing @Donnell Dawkins How the heck did you manage to get that clear coat off, just by sanding?

I have some more disaster headlights, but this was a transformation that shocked the customer.
Worst I’ve seen for a Nissan. When I set the expectation of achieving “like new” condition, I deliver. Not all will turn out that way. It’s always important to inspect the light first before pricing and promising. One thing I love is when dealerships tell someone their lights are too far gone and need replacing.. Not true. Set expectations and aim to over deliver! 💪

Fixing others Mistakes…
What do you do if someone attempted a restoration before you get there and it looks like garbage? At the end of the day, remember that it’s just plastic, and you can only do so much. Don’t overthink it. While it technically IS possible to permanently damage them, it’s not common to find em that that’s the case. Typically if it’s ruined, it’s because they use a drill and heated the plastic up too much and it actually melted. Just did the best you can and move onto the next one. ••• This guy just bought his Honda pilot in the previous owner over the dealership that he got it from,…..worked their magic on them lol bad magic. 😂they managed to get every panel around the headlights with the sandpaper. It’s all good. Process I used in the comments
