Question for Heavy Duty Nation:
What’s the BIGGEST training mistake you made in your 20s or 30s that held back your muscle growth? Mine? Thinking more volume automatically meant more progress.

@Jason Brooks That’s the exact path a lot of guys took, Jason. Minimal training in the 20s… then years of high-volume punishment later on trying to make up for it. Usually the body eventually pushes back.

@Dan Deadman Mohammed Makkawy was one of the best. Small by today’s standards, but insanely balanced and aesthetic. One of the first images I ever saw of him stuck with me too and honestly helped pull me into bodybuilding in the first place. And yeah, that’s exactly how a lot of us started back then… training every chance we got because we were obsessed with it. Then eventually reality hits and you realize more training isn’t always better training. Hardgainer definitely opened a lot of people’s eyes back then.
Carb 300 routine
So I was curious about the workout routine in the carb 300 program, specifically for Friday optional conditioning and what that entails, are we talking about a bodyweight workout routine, hiit cardio, etc? Just wanted clarification on that whenever

Hey Ryan, Friday conditioning is not meant to become another hard workout. Usually I keep it simple:incline treadmill walking, stationary bike, outdoor walking, light boxing work, or some controlled HIIT cardio done sparingly. Nothing excessive. The goal is improving conditioning and calorie output without interfering with recovery or muscle growth. Because carbs are higher on Carb300, recovery is usually much better—but don’t overdo the conditioning side of it.

@Ryan McIntyre Ryan, personally I’d keep it lighter than that. Once you start getting into a lot of push-ups, pull-ups, air squats, etc., it can easily turn into another actual workout instead of just conditioning. Remember, the goal is to support recovery and calorie output… not create more fatigue and interfere with the HIT sessions.
HIGH INTENSITY LEGACY MOVIE!
Heavy Duty Nation— I put something together that’s different from anything I’ve posted before. This is a legacy piece. Cinematic. Philosophical. Pure HIT. Took me about 7 hours to build and edit this one. Watch it all the way through—this isn’t a clip, it’s a full statement. If it hits, drop a comment on the video and share it. I want to see how this lands with you. MARKUS
Warm Up Sets
Brother Markus, without giving any secrets from my purchase of your ebook......perusing the "Future of High Intensity Training" I took notice that in the advanced protocol suggest three warm up sets using light for like 10, medium for like 6 and then the work set. Much like the old Delorme protocol. For the "Over 40" protocol no real suggestions made regarding warm ups. Do I need three warm ups per exercise? I find one at like 50 to 60 percent of targeted workload to suffice but I'm open to your suggestion(s).

You don’t need 3 warm-ups unless the movement or load actually requires it. Goal is simple: prepare the muscle and joints without burning energy.1–2 ramp sets is usually enough. One at ~50–60% is fine if it gets you ready. Save everything for the work set—that’s where growth happens.

This is the philosophy behind everything I teach here. Watch this before tonight’s chat Let me know how you guys like it ...I got a longer version posted on YouTube later as well 💪 Markus (Have an Intense Sunday everyone!)
