Curious about what US founders are building right now
I’m based in Tokyo and spend most of my time around software, AI, and business. Always interesting seeing what gets built in the US. Different speed, different market, sometimes a totally different way of doing things. For people here running a company in the US, what are you working on these days? Could be SaaS, AI, e-commerce, local business, anything really.

I’ve been using Famulor for calls and chat, especially for handling incoming questions and booking appointments. The interesting part for me is where the AI needs to hand things over to a person without losing context. Are you seeing people in Tokyo working on similar use cases?

@Happiness Sun What kinds of AI use cases are you seeing your partners work on in Tokyo? I’m especially curious whether calls and appointment booking are coming up there too.
Do companies need funding before they can really afford developers in the US?
Something I’ve been curious about lately. From my experience working with different software projects, development can become one of the biggest costs for a growing company. But not every business has raised money. Some companies are bootstrapped. Some are already making revenue. Others are still trying to get the product into the market. So I wonder how this works in the US. Do most companies wait until they raise investment before building a proper development team? Or are profitable small businesses comfortable investing in developers from their own revenue? Curious to hear from people actually running companies there. How do you usually think about this?

Funding isn’t a prerequisite. As someone using Famulor, I’d start with a small team focused on what the product actually needs, then hire as revenue and demand grow. I’d also look at whether tools can take some manual work off the team before adding headcount.
What technical skills do US companies actually need right now?
Been working with software systems for more than 10 years, mostly around backend, cloud, AI, automation, and product development. One thing I’ve learned, knowing a programming language alone usually isn’t enough. The harder part is understanding the actual business. How to automate work that’s still manual. Connect systems that don’t work well together. Build AI into real workflows. Keep the backend stable when usage grows. Deal with data scattered across different tools. These are the kinds of problems I’ve spent a lot of time working on here in Japan. But I’m curious about the US side. For people running companies in the US, what technical skills are becoming difficult to find? And what skills do you think companies will need more of over the next few years?

From using Famulor, I’d say the skill that matters most is turning a messy business process into something that works reliably. Setting up an AI voice agent is one part of it; connecting calls, bookings and customer data, then handling failed handoffs, is where the real work starts. Engineers who understand both integrations and the business workflow will be in demand.
Danke euch!
