Here are 10 lessons they taught us that every entrepreneur, freelancer, and leader needs to hear. 1. Lead with vision, not perfection. Kermit didn’t have flawless plans; he just kept the show moving. Progress beats perfection. 2. Diversity wins. The Muppets are misfits, yet together they created magic. Same with your team: complementary skills > carbon copies. 3. Embrace chaos, but ship. Behind the curtain, it was madness. But the curtain always went up. Businesses thrive when they move, not when they wait. 4. Spotlight your stars. Miss Piggy demanded attention, and the show was better for it. Shine the light on your top talent and products. 5. Comedy = connection. Fozzie’s jokes bombed, but his heart kept people loyal. Imperfection is relatable. Humanity builds bonds. 6. Innovation comes from “failures.” Bunsen & Beaker blew things up, but they kept testing. Every failed test is just R&D in disguise. 7. Consistency builds cult followings. Messy, yes. But reliable. They showed up every week. Businesses that show up consistently get remembered. 8. Lean into quirks. Gonzo made “weird” his advantage. Your quirks are a moat. Don’t hide them, own them. 9. Critics never leave. Statler & Waldorf heckled every show. The lesson? Build anyway. 10. The show must go on. No matter what, they performed. In Q1/Q2 of this year, I realized it was taking me too long to get proposals and contracts out, and I was spending too much time doing strategy for free. So, I stopped doing proposals, and instead, I conduct a brief vibe call to determine if we are a good fit for one another. Then, they pay for a 2-hour call where I dive deep to gather information, and I create a roadmap for them so they have my findings and recommendations, and they feel confident about their next steps. They can either follow that roadmap and execute it on their own (and at least I got paid for my time) or retain us to do it for them and apply the price of their session toward their retainer. I've done 3 that way so far and will end up closing them all! (I told one she wasn't ready to work with us, but that she would be in a couple of months. She really appreciated my honesty and has already referred other people to us.)
