If you have a good shop. Be thankful
Unfortunately my shop I had been going to since I started archery closed about a month or two ago. They had great techs, great customer service & always did a bang up job. I’ve since had to go to another shop, which doesn’t have the best reputation. Needed a new center serving. I bet I haven’t put 100 arrows through my bow since I got it & look at this! Already unraveled. I have a shoot Saturday & Sunday, that I’ll probably miss. So if you have a good shop. Support them & buy everything you can from them.

Yeah that sucks and it’s hard to find a great shop. I understand supporting local businesses but it pays off to learn how to do that kind of stuff on your own. All you need is the proper sized serving and a serving jig to wrap it on the string. They’re very affordable and you can still support your bow shop by picking the material through them. It’s very easy to learn and you’ll thank yourself for learning during the middle of the season when you need to reserve a string or tie in a d loop.

@Palmer Grigsby yeah they can be expensive. Keep an eye out on Lancaster archery’s website. I got my easy green 100 dollars off on a sale one time through them .
Hunting and fitness
I like to train in the gym with the goal in mind to be able to go farther, stay longer, and have the strength and endurance to hold my bow at full draw with prefect form for an extended period of time. I don’t want my body to be one of the reasons I miss a shot on an animal. Does anyone else train with this mindset in the off season and what kind of programs are you running to reach your goals.
Advice needed
I purchased my bow about a month ago and practiced like 6-8 times, throwing around maybe 150-180 total arrows. How often should I use the wax on the string? Plus, should I add wax to the whole string or just the one with the D loop?

If I’m shooting a lot especially outside on sunny days I like to wax them every 2 weeks. Otherwise I feel once a month is good. And yes don it wax your serving. Debris will get stuck between the serving and wear it about. When I wax my strings I like to put a little on the strings and work it in until I feel my finger tips warm up. It also helps to work it in in one direction so the string fibers don’t separate. For example I rub it in from top to bottom. Once my fingers get to the bottom I let go and grab it from the top and repeat until it’s fully worked in.
Practice
I know I need to practice on my technique! Being my 3rd time ever doing it I feel I’m getting there, at least as a rookie archer 😅🥴😂 The most difficult part is keeping it steady after 5 seconds, so the first 5 I aim and when think is the time to shoot, then the hand holding the bow starts moving 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣🤣🤣

You can practice drills to help with endurance to steady your aim. Draw back and aim on target, focus only on aiming (don’t fight the pin float), hold for as long as you can until the pin float gets to excessive, then let down and rest for until your muscles recover. Repeat for 3 reps. As you build those muscles that help steady your bow arm increase time and or reps. It’s like going to the gym and apply progressive over load to build muscle. Same idea can be applied to archery.

Yes work on your grip. I found setting my grip so my elbow is also at a 45 degree angle from the ground help keep my forearm clear of getting slapped by the string
