Hey Paul, I am with @Mergnat Ulysse when it comes to mastering. Keeping that in mind, on the question of AI, I'd use it mostly as a reference. Like @Brian Steel pointed it out, it can help us identify what needs to be done to get our mixes to that sweet spot. To sum it up, if you want your mixes to sound good, you might be able to achieve that with AI, but if you're looking for excellence, that $50 million sound, you should certainly try to learn all the ins and outs of mastering... Not sure about you, but that's what I am aiming for 😉.
