Question- steam blocking
Is it best practice to place stitches onto waste yarn and steam after each clue? When working on an all over color work project? It was very satisfying seeing my stitches relax, as I was worried about the outcome of mixing different yarn types and how they would lay together. I also don’t see how it can affect my gauge as I continue? Am I thinking correctly? I’m very interested in how everyone approaches these projects. Thank you.
Clue 2!
Everybody’s projects are looking so wonderful!!! ❤️❤️❤️ I finished up on the weekend, but I was considering ripping back and changing out my Colour B (the pale mint). Now, I think it has grown on me, but I’m not totally sure. I steam blocked clue 1, but not 2 yet, so hopefully that puckering will disappear when I do 🤞

Wow!! Love your color choices, that aqua /teal mmm beautiful.
Clue 2
I’m really loving my marly looking color work. Not going to achieve crisp pattern (2ply handspun)and I’m perfectly happy with these results. Trying to balance with some cotton-wool (dark grey w bluegreen mixed) stash buster mash up!

I think it will turn out stunning. I have never made an all over color work sweater. The pattern is amazing. Glad you were inspired by my colors, I love greens n blues with a little burnt orange. Something about adding grey that compliments so well. Good luck !
How do you choose colors?
I am curious how people make their color choices? Is it a learned skill ? Do I need a color wheel, or is it something that comes naturally ? I am seeing so many elegant combinations and I am envious of your talent of choosing color combinations .

I watched a YouTube video on weaving and color. One way is pick your one favorite color first, then from the color wheel pick a neighbor color(s) to either side. Then add a neutral (grey, white, blk, brown etc.) to tone things down. If u want a color pop- then look across the color wheel from your main color. Simple easy way to start, color is a whole technique to master. Smile

Ok... My indecisiveness and perfectionist are melding into a breakdown. This is only my second sweater I've knitted in 20-ish years... The first I frogged because I didn't measure the ribbing properly (I didn't know it shrunk so much lengthwise when stretched), and it turned out super cropped. Gave up on garment knitting until now... Anyways, after finishing clue 2 I'm not loving the taupe and grey together. I'm thinking it might be too much contrast on my petite frame. I started a second one to audition colors, but I definitely don't have enough stash yarn to finish them both. Should I stick with the grey? Should I try this fun green for color B? There's also the safe option of doing a lighter teal/blue for color B with the darker teal/blue. Btw, I'm still having fun with this MYAL! Just my overthinking brain sometimes takes over. And I want to get the colors sorted before we get too far into it.

Both will look great, different seasons. I think the most important thought is, which one will match my style and wardrobe. That way you’ll enjoy wearing it!
