Has Anyone Actually Asked for These Tests?
After Tuesday's post, I want to hear from the community: have you ever asked your doctor for fasting insulin or HOMA-IR? What happened? Were they receptive? Did you get pushback? Did it lead anywhere? Your experience matters, both as validation for others in the same position and as real-world data about what we are actually up against. There is no wrong answer here. If you have never heard of these tests before this week, that is useful too. Share your experience below. This is the conversation most waiting rooms never have. ✨

Yes, I asked at my last check up. "We don't run that test unless your non fasting glucose is over 125." She suggested that I get a cgm and record everything that I eat and report everything back to her. Everything looked good after wearing a cgm for two weeks and made minor tweaks to my diet. Interestingly enough, I've complained of heart palpitations for years and ekg always "normal". In wearing the cgm, I came to realize that any time my glucose was over 200, my heart pounds.
