Japanese Samurai Movies,
I still remember when my brother (RIP) showed me the magic of Japanese cinema. He loaded my brain with names like Akira Kurosawa, Toshiro Mifune .Up to this day it sparked my interests in martial arts. After a while I noticed how media exaggerated historical facts on film. Then I switched to just researching history. I will like to thank my brother for opening my eyes .

Introduce yourself and share a pic of something Japanese you own or something Japanese that you're interested in! Feel free to explain why you want to learn Japanese or what you like about Japan. Also, feel free to post any Japanese language questions you have. I'd be glad to answer them! As for me, I love learning Judo. Have you ever tried it? And I love Japanese literature, such as Kokoro by Natsume Soseki. Have you read any Japanese novels? I also really enjoyed Cowboy Bebop when it came out! Not the live action Netflix version! To start learning, I highly recommend Your 50 First Sentences Course: https://www.skool.com/japanese/classroom/fe1c2853?md=60ee3552d26e4ffcb910a86675e10f95 Arigatou, Joe Sensei.

I am a lifelong lover of Japan who finally took the plunge and started studying the language about two years ago now. I used to train Judo in high school, I have seen many classic Japanese movies ("Golden Age" of Ozu, Mizoguchi, Kurosawa, the Japanese New Wave era with Imamura, Teshigahara, Shinoda, Oshima, etc... and also the modern classics with Miike Takeshi, Yamada Yoji, Miyazaki, and others. My favorite Japanese authors are Endo Shusaku, Abe Kobo and Yoshikawa Eiji. I love to study Japanese history and I am currently studying Japanese Farming systems. Pretty much everything Japanese!! Favorite Japanese Food: Ramen Favorite Japanese Movie: Ikura (Kurosawa)/HaraKiri (Kobayashi) Why am I studying Japanese? I hope to move to Japan!

@Joe Bennett His most famous novel is Silence and is a good place to start. Both Shinoda and Scorsese made movie adaptations (I prefer the Shinoda version, as the screenplay was co-written by Endo, and this was more true to his vision).
