A simple question today. What is suffering? We often think suffering comes from life not happening according to our liking. The traffic The delay The disagreement The unexpected change The plans that didnāt work out And there is truth in that. The mind suffers when reality doesnāt match the picture it has created. But today, I also want to acknowledge something important. Some pain is simply part of being human. Losing someone you love Watching someone struggle That isnāt something to dismiss or explain away. Grief is not a failure to be present. It is love expressing itself. What the mind often adds, however, is another layer. āThis shouldnāt have happened.ā āWhy me?ā āIf onlyā¦ā That struggle with reality can deepen our suffering. The pain of loss may remain. But we donāt have to carry the extra burden of arguing with what has already happened. Presence doesnāt ask us not to grieve. It invites us to grieve fully. To cry To remember To love To sit quietly with what is Without adding another story to it šÆ Today: If life isnāt going according to your liking, pause for a moment. Ask yourself: āAm I experiencing the pain of this moment⦠or is my mind adding another layer of suffering?ā Sometimes peace doesnāt come because life changes. Sometimes it comes because, even in the middle of pain, we stop arguing with reality and gently allow ourselves to be here, NOW.
