Momentum Monday: Monday Mindset Question
When something goes wrong, which question comes to you first? “Who caused this?” or “What's actually happening here?” Those questions can lead us in very different directions. One moves quickly toward blame. The other creates room for diagnosis. This week, before trying to fix something, see if you can get curious about what's happening beneath the surface. 💬 What helps you stay curious when your first instinct is to correct the problem?

Working in Institutional Effectiveness and research has taught me that the first thing we see is often a symptom, and the data rarely tells the whole story. My instinct is to solve the problem, but I try to pause and ask, “What patterns are we seeing? What information are we missing? What do the people involved know that the numbers don’t show?” That helps me stay curious and work toward a solution that addresses the underlying issue.
