Hi all, year 2 on the farm and the permaculture garden has hit its stride!! My chook forage, medicinal herbs and even our food is starting to co-mingle nicely. We have seen bees for the first time, they were absent last year. Our kangaroo mob has split. Buck 'Big Jimmy' has given two first season girls to his son (who needs a name). We have been homeschooling some friend's kids. I have attached the worksheets in case anyone wants them. The biggest hit was the poo sheet. One chook keeps going broody, we broke the brood twice. She has been having special time in the vege garden with me. Anyway, October has given us a few frosts that we didn't expect, so that has cooled down the greenhouse and savaged the potatoes a bit. Recently, our resident male wombat, Ron, has taken to harassing our alpacas. I am now using the kitty litter that used to go to compost as a wombat fenceline deterrent. What other interesting closed permaculture loops do you all use worldwide to deter predators and nuisances? Speaking of nuisances, follow on from the deer saga, they have again come and destroyed my lemon tree.

Hey there. It's been a while. We have hit a major road block with our project. Unfortunately due to "Energy Efficiency Certification" our electric company is absolutely refusing any and all doors, windows, appliances, water heater, and AC mini-split from our old home built less than 5 years ago. This is absolutely devastating. The electric company is stating we will have to replace all of that. I am in just a shock and awe period and so is my husband. I honestly cannot imagine our water heater, a 2.65 gallon German made, is not "Energy Efficient" enough. Our mini-split AC and heat pump certificate expired last year. They will not let us take our $600 plus metal doors, side and front door to new home, nor our double paned crystal glass window. We are beyond ourselves. It's amazing how much mafia is out there. This comes with broken hearts and having to look at our current situation all over again as we sit here in 100 degree weather and no power. We have a generator, but even with this it is expensive.
