First BMU: Good cues/exercises to adress problems with Hip Pop and Active Pull
Hello together, im reaching out to seek advice for the skill progression of one of my athletes. Were having a hard Time to get her first Bar Muscle Up. She has everything together, in theory, but cant make it. Her biggest problem, in my opinion, is her ability to actively use her hips and pull active with her lats in the turnover. What would be your go to, to fix it. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Hey I recently got my BMUs, I found this video extremely helpful: https://www.instagram.com/p/DRtRLU3EjPf/ It's a much different form than what 99% of crossfiters prescribe, but I found that I am able to do BMUs with 3 RPE effort. Before I was doing more of the "Strong Arch/Kip/Lat pulldown" approach (like 10 RPE). And then this one I'm doing a dead hang in the beginning.... super loose. like 1 RPE.,,, then I snap and stuff and go over (3 RPE).. It's a bit of a mindfuck. (How do you go over when you're so loose in the begining? impossible). But then once I got one, it changed my world lol. I was able to string 4 in a row shortly after. The key thing I noticed was the tenser I was, the worse my BMU was, during the hanging portion. So i would literally tell myself to relax as much as possible. Be 10/10 loose. If i am 7/10 loose, my bmu looks drastically worse. Maybe try it yourself and see if you can get the "Loose BMU" but it's definetly worked for me, I was struggling with BMU for an entire year. tried everything (strength, strong arch kip stuff) and this unlock got me 4 linked in a week, and now super consistent.
