My passion is everything that can be sewn, knitted, crocheted, quilted. I'm focused on sustainability, upcycling and redone clothes for each piece of garment is made by gifted hands.

This is my year to hone my skills in upcycling as well. It's going to be an exciting adventure for us both.
January Challenge
Hi, it's been pretty quite on the community chat, so I'm going to issue a challenge for this month. If you're like me, you have started but not finished some sewing or craft projects. I like to call those UFO's (UnFinished Objects). Here's the challenge: finish one of your UFO's and post a picture of your finished project here in the commmunity chat. If you want to finish more than one, go for it!

HI all, I'm Lynda, a new member. I hope clearing a space to work is considered a UFO because My large cutting table is down to a wee few inches of usable space. LOL If I get into this years projects before I do that, it will disappear all together before next January.

Well, I did get a small area cleaned so now I've found some things I'd forgotten about and they're trying to sidetrack me into creating something with them. Woe is me! But here is a small project finish. Vintage 1' squares on snippet strips. Not sure what I'm going to use them on but something will come up, I'm sure.

Happy Thursday, I have always wanted to sew 🧵 the best I can do is hand stitch and even my mom giggles at my knots 🪢 🤦🏽‍♀️ I have a nice sewing machine collecting dust. I have to check the brand since it’s been a while but I want to create so many things. I love dresses 👗 with and without hoods and tops and dresses with pockets. I need a gowns in every color for the community I’m involved in. I’m scared of the needle on the sewing machine but I’m ready to face my fears. I know I said a lot but I’m tired of overthinking instead of being creative. I need to flow like water 💦

Anavia, you made me laugh so hard. I've been sewing for so long and I forget how scary the first few months with my significant other (my sewing machine) really was. Since I've aged a lot, I've returned to doing a lot of handwork which I enjoy so much. I think you will find a lot of help here in Karen's community and will soon be stitching miles of seams.

Absolutely. Creation gives our inner world somewhere to go. It’s amazing how much lighter the heart feels when the hands are busy.”
Visible mending
Does anyone do this? I’ve just started to dabble but I’ve not done much. I live in an old house and I have a constant battle with clothes moths, this was a favourite top which got attacked. I tried invisible mending but wasn’t happy with the result, I tried to needle felt but the fibers were just not locking into one another so I decided to make some prefelt roundels and embroider them on. I’m pleased with the result and I might explore this a little more anyone else got examples of their visible mending?

This is really nice, Jan. I've been doing this type of sewing for some time now, slow stitching, as it's called a lot of the time. Her is a sweater I'm mending at the moment. The circles are covering a couple of coffee stains.
