Day 6 - Breath Holding on Inhale vs. Exhale: Dive times 02:35.94 vs 01:31.60 I currently prefer performing a breath hold after inhalation. I’ve now had some practice with this, I’m more used to how it feels, and it was more of a mind challenge. Performing a breath hold after exhalation initially felt more relaxing, with none of the chest pressure. But the urge to breathe came on suddenly for me and with much greater urgency!

@Edward Brittain thank you Edward. Unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to immerse my face in cold water on this occasion 🙁

@Pier Luke thank you Pier. Perhaps I could try only covering the top half of my face (forehead down to bridge of nose) with the cold wet cloth next time, and I may find that more comfortable!? 🧊🥶🤔

How Long Can YOU Hold Your Breath? (Leaderboards Explained)
Hi there, Polar Bears. How's it chillin'? One of the nifty features of Skool is the leaderboard. You can find it in the top navigation bar of the 7-Day Breath Hold Challenge page (see image). For the biologists and animal lovers among us, you'll understand the animals linked to each level. That's right - the order is based on how long each animal can hold their breath under water. Now, how do you go from a polar bear to a sea turtle? The answer is: sharing & posting quality stuff! Every single time someone likes your post, you get a point. Each level requires a certain amount of points to level up. (click the question mark under your profile picture to see the exact amount) New levels also mean new features! For instance, when you become a Sea Otter, you can message each other (this is mostly to keep those spammy Polar Bears from sending unsolicited ads) If you level up to a Dugong, you can migrate to the Discovery Masterclass, and of course, when you reach the Dolphin level, you can learn how to train Superhuman Lungs. We are still playing around with the rewards for the other levels, as well as winning the weekly/monthly leaderboards. Rewards may be subject to change. The goal of this community that we help each other. So be kind, and give your fellow polar bear a like when you can. We'll be a bale of sea turtles soon enough. So, are you ready to level up? ACTION: Post your current level (and feel free to come back every time you reach a new level).

Post Your Breath Hold (Week 19: May 4th - May 11th 2026)
With a huge influx of new faces - hi everyone! - it is time bring out one of the classics. Stig's 2nd appearance on the TEDx stage was a big one. Not just because of the title, Breath Holding is the New Black. Or, how he talks how breath holding & breathwork provides a natural solution for PTSD. No, it is because it is a miracle that we can even watch the video as it is today. The recording took months, and several emails back and forth, to get published. And when it finally did, it was flagged and stated that the talk was not supported by "legitimate" science. Ironically, all in the same year a Nobel prize was awarded for the discovery of how cells sense and adapt to oxygen availability. If you have already done the challenge, you likely have already experienced difference, peer approved or not. So, lean back, and enjoy!
