REFLECTING is so important for success
We are used to focus on a Vision, a plan, the execution, and sometimes get caught in the treadmill of execution. We act, follow up etc. But what about the big picture. Am I getting towards my vision? Is any correction needed to keep on track? Has the world changed? What do I need to add to my strategy and roadmap? Did I miss something? I love to have sparing partners to reflect on two levels: - Weekly as an operative review on what went well and what can be improved... oriented to continuous improvement. Improving 1% per day and sustaining can work wonders over time. I practice this since I worked in Supply chain from 2015 onwards.( inspired by LEAN management) - Yearly as a strategic review. I like to walk to the mountains with a selected sparing partner for a full day. We review our goals and vision for life and discuss progress, challenges as well as situations and options. It really helps getting ahead, refocusing and getting critical and supportive inputs from someone with an outside view. I have done for about 7 years now and wouldn't miss it . Some call it week 53 and go for a walk with peers to exchange over several days and get reconnected with their objectives. What is your experience with reflecting? How do you build it in your weekly and yearly cycles? Very interested in hearing your feed back.
