Sending peace wrapped in happiness
Dear yoga nidristas, Before the chaos descends I am sending peaceful and happy vibes to you all for the festive break and good wishes for the fresh year ahead. Naturally of course it is just one little moment in a chain of many but still a chance for reflection and gratitude. Profound thanks to you Ayla for your energy and generosity in presence in a wonderful year of nidra. Be well, Louise x

🌙 The Paradox of Rest... and Awakening
New piece on Yoga Nidra that's close to my heart... exploring how the deepest transformation from surrendering. READ ARTICLE Weaved in the article is ancient philosophy, my own healing journey through a rare leukemia, and the radical act of rest in our achievement-obsessed culture. I dive into how Yoga Nidra sits at the intersection of Shiva (pure awareness) and Shakti (creative force), and why lying down might be one of the most powerful practices we have. The piece explores: - The myth of Vishnu resting on the cosmic ocean while worlds are born - The Five koshas (Layers of Being) we move through in stillness - How my relationship with Yoga Nidra shifted from fascination to medicine - Why rest reveals both light and shadow... and why we need both One line that kept coming back to me: "To rest in the deepest 'Self', one must first seek. Yet to seek too hard is to miss the rest." I'm curious... SHARE BELOW What resonated with you the most in the article!? Would love to hear your insights. 💫

Dear Community, I need your help 🫶
I need to share something from the heart. Our Nova Nidra community has always been rooted in rest, healing, and accessibility. Over the last three-plus years, I’ve poured my heart into creating accessible practices and recently building this space, all of which I have done freely and with deep devotion. And it’s been one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. As this community grows, I’m learning to honour not just the rhythm of giving, but the rhythm of restoring. In that spirit, we’re introducing a tiered membership system. This is about sustainability and creating an ecosystem that supports not only you, but the continued future of Nova Nidra too. This way, I can continue to create what you love most: Deeply resourced Yoga Nidra sessions, born from presence, not survival. This shift will also allow me to bring in beautiful souls to support the work behind the scenes… so I can share more of what I love and feel is healing to our collective... Nidras, Offerings, and nervous system care that can ripple out into your lives. And because this is OUR community, OUR collective, your voice matters deeply in shaping what’s next! Is there anything you’d love to see in the upcoming tier system? What’s felt most meaningful or supportive to you so far? Your feedback will help ensure that what we create reflects your values and your experience, while also keeping this sanctuary sustainable… for all of us. Thank you for being part of this journey. I’m so grateful to be walking this path with you. Sending you all so much love! Ayla 🌙✨ P.S. What draws you to this space?

Hi Ayla, I have many thoughts, here are a few..... Firstly the nidras have been a Godsend quite literally but I don't feel that I constantly need new ones, I am very happy to listen to the same one over and over and over. When I have had a migraine attack I have literally had you on a 24 hour loop and I have no idea what you are saying at all. Secondly, I loved the 20 minutes ones, I do them after yoga practice in the 30 minutes I have before I begin teaching and they are prefect. Since they are quite short then I prefer more variety in those. I am conscious of the dilemma of providing so much without you getting remuneration. One of the downside post covid for me as a yoga teacher is that people almost expected things on-line for free, or donation, or just because and of course you have to make a living and people just don't want to pay and why not, there is so much for free. Also I found that a lot of people went on-line and under valued the teachings, often people with very little experience but great at lights, camera, action. There is this lovely nidra paradox of providing stuff for free to get visibility and charging so that a teacher can live in the world, It is one of the reasons why there are SO many TT and workshops, it is the only way yoga teachers can survive. So I guess my personal thought is how you provide things and yet receive value yourself for all of your time and energy, quite rightly. I am not on social media, loathe it actually, loathe tech in general but I have enjoyed the possibility of an on-line community but because it is so anti where I believe humans should be then I find it hard to contribute and so I end up reading and taking more than giving. I think community really works when everyone does their bit or at least it moves in ups and downs where you give and then you lean in etc etc so the community aspect is great but it does need a community commitment also. From a developing scripts point of view then I would value lovely little ideas for way to present things or repertoires of phrases which give an idea to play with or an idea for a visualisation but not enough where we copy but enough where we can run with it and create something new.

If pain is a fire alarm, muscle guarding is the sprinkler system. Useful in emergencies, exhausting when left on. so nice
