When potential fades. Quietly.
I once worked with someone who is incredibly talented. A gifted designer, a strong marketing mind — the kind of person where you immediately see what’s possible. He has ideas. Vision. Skills. He even completed a coaching training a couple of years ago. And yet — nothing really moved. He closed his small agency. It was doing okay, not great, but enough to get by. Now he’s employed. It pays the bills, supports his family, but it’s far from what he’s capable of. Life plays a role, of course. Health challenges, responsibilities at home. Those things matter. But still, it’s hard to watch.Because I genuinely like him. He’s a great person. And it raises a question for me:What do people like him actually need? Not more ideas. Not more knowledge.Something else. How do you help someone who clearly has the potential - but isn’t moving? And maybe even more important:How do you help someone who doesn’t actively ask for help - but could benefit from it?
