N8n cost v reliability - your experience with different setups
Hi @Nate and everyone, can anyone share their experience of setting up N8n for production? What Iโ€™m after is some tips and potential issues to consider in having different options for clients, whether you give them user access to workflows, whatโ€™s your stack (ie shared hosting self installation, docker deployment on vps, or cloud) what kind of databases you provision for, etc Starting off I donโ€™t assume that anything will be particularly problematic, but once you get going what are the issues coming up with specific setups? Are vps handling load etc. Iโ€™ve seen that the latest trend of recommendations seems to be a cheap VPs on hostinger. Any feedback on that? Thanks! Lorenzo

Folders are Here!! ๐Ÿ“
Folders have finally arrived in n8n! ๐ŸŽ‰ This long-awaited feature makes organizing workflows so much easier. You will need to upgrade your instance to 1.86.0 (Latest Beta) to access this feature

hi everyone, i still forget how powerful claude coding has become... sharing the setup script for upgrading and backing up your instance. hopefully you'll find it useful as it is quite customisable! just keep this script and the docker-compose.yml in the same folder and the rest can be sorted interactively. NOTE i'm running postgres as db with the vector plugin and you must update the line in the iml with your local n8n storage folders. everything is getting backed up before messing with the docker containers ======== Usage: ./n8n-backup-and-update.sh [OPTION] Options: -h, --help Show this help message -b, --backup Backup n8n data without updating -u, --update Backup and update n8n (default if no option provided) -r, --restore Restore from a previous backup if you have improvements let me know, hope it is useful!
