Writing Workshop was a Success! ๐Ÿ˜
Iโ€™m so happy that we had the writing workshop yesterday! It was packed full of goodies and information regarding the book creation process. Since thereโ€™s a lot more to creating a book than what I could fit in the time, I did an overview of parts that I felt were essential to creating a book. ๐Ÿ“• Thank you to all you wonderful people that came and to the others who will enjoy the replay! Thank you @Shirley-Louise Daniels @Jo-Ann Morgante @Michael Teferi @Eliza Marin and a few others that are not in this writing community yet! I plan on having the replay up on Monday! Be sure to check it out if you want to write a book no matter what stage that youโ€™re in!

The 5 Senses Scene Challenge
One of the fastest ways to improve your writing is learning how to pull readers into a moment instead of simply explaining what happened. Today weโ€™re practicing sensory storytelling. Many writers rely heavily on sight, but powerful writing uses all five senses. Step 1 Think of a simple moment. Examples: โ˜€๏ธ sitting in a cafรฉ ๐Ÿต โ˜€๏ธ walking through a forest ๐ŸŒณ โ˜€๏ธ waiting for a train ๐Ÿš‚ โ˜€๏ธ opening an old letter โœ๏ธ โ˜€๏ธ standing outside during a storm โ˜”๏ธ Small moments often create the most immersive writing. โœ๏ธ Step 2 Write five short lines, each using a different sense. Sight Sound Smell Touch Taste Example: ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Sight: Rain crawled down the window like silver threads. ๐Ÿ‘‚ Sound: The quiet clatter of cups echoed through the cafรฉ. ๐Ÿ‘ƒ Smell: Roasted coffee and warm cinnamon hung in the air. ๐Ÿคš Touch: The mug heated my cold hands. ๐Ÿ‘… Taste: The coffee was strong and bitter. Step 3 Combine those lines into one short paragraph scene. Let the moment breathe. Bonus Challenge Write the same scene again but change the emotional state of the character. Emotion changes how we experience the world.

As I sit waiting for my coffee to be made at the airport I hear parents talking to their children explaining what to expect on their first plane ride. I smell the coffee brewing as I move through the line getting closer to the space where I will receive my cup. I see the bustling of passengers as they walk huridilly toward their gate; some frantic and some easily maneuvering through the crowd. I hear my name being called and as I reach for my cup I feel the warmth of the coffee through the sleeve and am anxiously awaiting the familiar taste of my Grande Vanilla Latte with Almond Milk as I bring it to my lips and have that first delicious sip.

๐ŸŽญ Write It Bad On Purpose
Yes! I want to see your first paragraph in your book over the top!ย ๐Ÿ” Make it ridiculous!ย ๐Ÿคช Iโ€™m excited to read what you share! Use that creativity. But donโ€™t get stuck on overthinking. ๐Ÿค” Write the worst possible opening paragraph for your book. Overdramatic.ย ๐ŸŽญ Ridiculous.ย ๐Ÿ˜œ Extra. Now, post it below.๐Ÿ‘‡ Perfectionism dies here. ๐Ÿ›‘ Itโ€™s time to laugh and have fun! Let it out!ย ๐Ÿคฃ No perfection here, just arms wailing, tears flying, and a dramatic voice bellowing! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

๐ŸŽฒ 6-Word Book Future
What if your book was complete? ๐ŸŽ‰ What if you had it published? I want you to describe your finished book in 6 words. Example: โ€œFinished. Published. Finally at peace.โ€ Drop yours below. Letโ€™s share what we come up with and if you really want to shine, add a GIF that fits for the feeling of having a published book.

Are you Turning to Writing Because of Your Past?
Many stories stem from our own personal experiences. Whether it's a memoir, fiction, or a fantasy, there are pieces of you within it. ๐Ÿ“š Now, when we write a book, it's good to remember to think of what you want the outcome to be. Think of the people you want to help, what you want the book to do for you and what steps you want to take. If you're wanting to heal some past memories, writing a book may not be the best. When it comes to healing, yes, writing can help. However, writing a book for you to heal doesn't always get finished. It becomes a heavy load. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ That's why I recommend talking with someone that can help you specifically with the pains of healing. That way, once you feel healed, you can write that book from a different place in your heart. Not through pain, but through love. I have met a wonderful woman named Lisa Black, who helps people find their way their the turmoil of life. I share this because I know that healing can be difficult, especially when you do it by yourself. You can join her community ๐Ÿ’– Love Yourself to Health ๐Ÿ’– and get the support to move on from the past. Then, I'll be here to help you with the writing, editing, and publishing of your book! ๐Ÿ“• My team and I can't wait to help you create the book that you're meant to share with the world! ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ
