You check your email list. One person left. And suddenly the whole afternoon is gone. You're rereading your last email. Wondering what you said wrong. Thinking maybe you should post less. Sell less. Be less. Here's what else it can look like: 🎃 A client replies "ok." and you're sure they're unhappy 🎃 You hold back a post because "what will people think?" 🎃 You drop your price before anyone has even pushed back 🎃 Hours spent drafting a reply to one critical comment This is rejection sensitivity. And it's not you being dramatic or "too sensitive." Your nervous system reads disapproval as danger. Not emotional danger. 𝘋𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳. It reacts to a short email the way it would react to being pushed out of the group. At some point that protected you. But now it's making business decisions for you. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲. Try this before your next decision: "𝘈𝘮 𝘐 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘫𝘶𝘥𝘨𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸?" Just asking the question creates a gap between the sting and the reaction. This is exactly what we explore in the free classroom "𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘋𝘰 𝘐 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘚𝘰 𝘔𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬?" @Valerie Hail Yes, very true! Even beginning to ask ourselves those questions can feel uncomfortable, especially when we're not used to looking beneath our behaviours. I am grateful you recognize the value in creating a space for those conversations. That is exactly what I hope to offer inside The Regulated Leader: a supportive place to explore our patterns with curiosity rather than judgment, and take small steps toward meaningful change.

@Stephanie Pick It really does! Sometimes what is interesting is that the reaction isn't even about the unsubscribe itself. It can be connected to experiences from our childhood or past that we never would have thought were influencing our behaviours and thoughts today. Something as simple as someone unsubscribing can activate an old feeling of rejection or not being good enough. That is why I believe understanding what's happening underneath our reactions is so important. Sometimes we are responding to something much deeper than what's happening in the moment. Have you ever noticed a reaction that felt much bigger than the situation itself?

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺? Have you ever known exactly what you needed to do in your business, but somehow found yourself doing everything except that? Maybe you recognize yourself in some of these behaviours: 😬 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝘁. You know what your work is worth, but the moment someone asks about the investment, you start negotiating against yourself. 🤔 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲. You spend hours questioning something that felt perfectly clear yesterday. 💻 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝗸. You answer emails, organize files, research, and plan, but somehow never get to the thing that would actually move your business forward. 🤐 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗼. Then spend the rest of the day frustrated because you've taken on something you didn't have the capacity for. 📱 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲. You know sharing your message could help your business grow, but there's always one more thing to fix before you're ready. 🔄 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Wondering whether you said the right thing, what someone thought, or whether you should have responded differently. Sound familiar? We often label these behaviours as procrastination, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or a lack of confidence. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿? What if your body has been giving you signals that you haven't learned to recognize yet? That's exactly what we'll be exploring in my workshop! 🎤 Catch It in the Body — 4 StepsI'm excited to be part of the 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗩𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲, 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮–𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲! During this interactive workshop, we'll look at what's happening underneath these everyday business behaviours and why they can be so difficult to change, even when we know better. You'll have the opportunity to recognize one of your own patterns, understand what may be driving it, and practise a small tool you can take into your business.

@Jen Sullivan Thank you so much! I am really looking forward to sharing it! What excites me most is helping people recognize the behaviours they may have been struggling with for years without understanding what's happening underneath them. Sometimes we know exactly what we want to do differently, but our body responds before we've even had a chance to think. My hope is that everyone leaves recognizing at least one of their own patterns and having a practical tool they can use when it shows up. Because awareness is where change begins!

@Donna Thornton Thank you so much! I love that you recognize some of these behaviours yourself! 😂 I think you touched on exactly why this workshop is so important to me. We can spend years trying to change a behaviour without ever understanding what's driving it. Sometimes, even when we understand it intellectually, that doesn't mean we can recognize it when it's actually happening. That is why I really want people to experience the process rather than just hear about it. My hope is that they walk away with greater awareness of their own patterns and a small, practical tool they can begin using immediately. I really appreciate your encouragement and support!

Have you ever had one of those periods when life seems to throw everything at you, but your business still needs your attention? That's been my reality lately. While I was away, my mom had a fall, which brought some unexpected concerns and responsibilities. Then came the heartbreaking tragedy involving soldiers at CFB Wainwright. This hit especially close to home because it was my husband's former military unit. We have been trying to remain available to support the injured soldiers, their families, and others connected to the unit. And in the middle of all this, I'm still running and building my business. There are clients to support, a community to engage with, content to create, and plans I want to move forward. But something I've been very aware of lately is this: 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲. As entrepreneurs, it is easy to keep looking at the to-do list without recognizing everything else that's requiring our energy. And sometimes we start feeling guilty because we're not getting as much done as we normally would. But life doesn't stop happening because we own a business. I have been making a conscious effort to pay attention to my own well-being through all of this. 🌿 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. Even a short walk helps me release some of the tension and clear my head. ❤️ 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. Sometimes a good conversation or simply being around people who understand makes a difference. ☕ 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀. Stepping away before I'm completely depleted, rather than waiting until my body forces me to stop. 💻 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. Not because it isn't important, but because I want to have the energy and capacity to give it the attention it deserves. One thing my work in nervous system regulation has taught me is that stress doesn't only come from the tasks we're doing. It can also come from everything we're emotionally carrying.

I’ve really enjoyed @Joe Sargent Skool Growth Lab because it goes beyond just talking about growth. He helps you look at the actual pieces that make a community work your niche, offer, About page, posts, engagement, and what might be getting in the way of gaining members. I especially like the post grading and the step-by-step feedback because it gives you practical things you can actually improve instead of just guessing what isn’t working.
