It sounds like you're exploring how children process change through imaginative play and small memories that help make unfamiliar things feel a little less overwhelming. I like that you're taking the time to work through it rather than rushing it. I'm looking forward to seeing how your thoughts develop as you work on it this week. @Melissa Poetrylpls Thank you for sharing this. I think there's something powerful in the progression from confusion and guilt to acceptance, strength, and finally choosing to live. It feels honest and deeply personal. I also like the repetition of "Write to fight. Write to feel." because it gives the piece a strong emotional anchor. I can see why you feel it needs more work, but the heart of it is already there. Where do you feel the poem is still asking you to dig a little deeper?

@Melissa Poetrylpls You're very welcome. Honestly, it's impressive that something so meaningful came from just a few notes and what was in your head at the time. Sometimes those spontaneous pieces carry the most authentic voice. I think connecting it with one of your unfinished works could create something really powerful if the themes naturally fit. I'd love to see where you take it what made you think of linking those two pieces together?

A TASTE OF DECEIT!
My first chapter is live: Down on his luck, journalist Jack Sutherland pitches a profile on famous foodie Serendipity Brown, tasked by his editor to uncover her husband Richard's disappearance. Jack arrives at her art nouveau-style estate, Bishops Ridge farm, and is boisterously welcomed by the flame-haired chef. Serendipity settles Jack into her missing husband’s former study, fueling his investigative instincts. Over strong drinks, she invites him to her upcoming cooking demonstrations at her home. My novel: A week-long demo by a famous cook has four guests hide links to her missing husband. A romance with a visiting journnalist uncovers the truth. @Gwynne Conlyn That's an impressive combination of roles you've experienced the culinary world from just about every angle. I imagine being both a restaurant critic and a chefs' competition judge has given you some unforgettable meals and stories. And I like the balance in your reading tastes, too thrillers to keep you guessing, with a little romance for the spice. Out of all the restaurants you've reviewed or chefs you've judged, which experience has stayed with you the most?
