How can I make my kick and bass work together better in the mix?
Hey everyone, I’ve been struggling to get my kick and bass to sit well together in the mix. Every time I listen back, they either clash or the low end feels muddy, and I lose that punchy, clean sound I’m going for. I’m mainly working on house music in FL Studio, but I imagine the principles are similar across genres and DAWs. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: • Sidechain compression (but maybe I’m not dialing it in right?) • EQing the bass to make room for the kick’s frequencies • Playing with different bass sounds, but I’m still not happy with the results Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or techniques they use to make their kick and bass work together better? Specific examples or plugin recommendations would be super helpful too! Thanks in advance for your help! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts. 🙌

Take Your Logic Pro / FL Studio Skills Further
If you’ve taken one of my courses on Udemy, first of all, thank you for being part of this community! I wanted to share something that I think could really help if you’re looking to take your Logic Pro or FL Studio skills to the next level. Just look at the videos in this post to watch examples of how a studio session online can look! What’s LogicPro.Academy / FLStudio.Academy? Unlike typical courses, these aren’t just videos to watch on your own. The academy programs are personal music production programs where I work directly on your own projects. 1. You send me your project files each week (or as soon as you can), and I record a studio session where I work on your music while explaining what I’m doing. 2. You get to see the project evolve with my comments and suggestions—and I follow up with you personally to help you keep making progress. 3. You choose the pace: there’s a 10-week sprint, a 20-week plan, or a slower 40-week path. 4. This way, it’s not just theory or random tutorials, but actual hands-on help tailored to what you need. Why join if you’ve already done a Udemy course? Udemy courses are great for learning the basics and workflows, but I know that often the hardest part is applying it to your own music—and staying motivated. That’s where the academy comes in. It’s designed to be personal, interactive, and built around your music—whether you’re stuck on a mix, arrangement, or getting your creative ideas flowing. Plus, there’s a library of 100+ hours of training videos you can access anytime, but the real value is the direct studio work on your projects. If you’re interested, check them out here: logicpro.academy flstudio.academy And of course, feel free to ask any questions below or DM me. I’m happy to help. Looking forward to hearing what you’re working on! PS. If you want a discount on the program, please let me know through DM🤫
