When doing top hand work- instead of manipulating the barrel and forcing the ball up the middle or the opposite field... pretend someone is coming at you and you're looking to take their head off. Start slow and make sure you're loose, but think more about how you would actually swing that bat and then take that into your normal swing. Has been huge unlocks for our guys.
Don’t force your hands back. Train yourself how to be easy and let your hands go where they want to go. If your intent is to hit the ball hard or far, they will get to a strong spot. We end up hurting ourselves by thinking we know where things need to be placed. Allow flow to help your moves…
Pro tip: incorporate movements that translate to what we have to do on the field. Here I’m demonstrating a drill I love to use on my sprint days. Emphasizing creating the right angles and putting force into the ground correctly. I’ve always felt that this drill has a direct correlation to getting a good jump and explosive first few steps. Give it a shot and let me know what you think!
Anyone in here feel better when they get the barrel moving to start their swing? I realized that I had more of a "bat tip" the more relaxed I was and the looser my hands were. Curious if anyone else has had similar results or if they prefer to keep everything "still"
