What should a producer/songwriter do when collabing with other artists?
As someone who's been producing hiphop/edm genre music for some time, I've never worked with another artist, specifically a singer. Recently got an artist who really appreciates my style and wants to collab on a song together, which is a great chance for both of us. Since I have no experience with this at all, so I'm genuinely wondering what should a producer/songwriter do when collaborating with another artists? Don't laugh at me but I really got some stupid questions below: - Should I write the vocal melodies or she should write it? She mentioned she will write the lyrics but what about the melodies? I sometimes write vocal melodies but only for myself. If write the melody, how should I prepare it for her? Should I do a humming take or should I just play a key with melody? - Usually I record at home, but what if we want to go to another mixing engineers recording booth, what should I prepare? - Should I prepare the beats in a full? - Are there any good platforms that give decent 1on1 coaching session that teaches stuff like these? In general, as a bedroom producer, I really hope there's somewhere or someone could teach me the professional ways of collaboration when working with an artist or group.

She obviously likes your sound to want to work with ya. There is probably a vibe in her music that is similar to yours and finding that is a way to connect to the singer. Singers all sing for different reasons so finding to tone that would inspire a singer is key, setting environment and conditions, getting the proper emotion out of them is the key. It’s time to be creative in this way which give big growth. I would have multiple stems/ tracks, or whatever ready would probably keep the process of elimination flowing. Just the bare bones so there is plenty of room for vocals and additions to sound you want to add for if and when you get inspired. Money is secondary to personal growth but never sell your self short. IDK. I love this topic.

New update in midi wizard looks fun. Hesitant on giving it a whirl cause when I was using there sound doctor for a little bit I was get hug drops and spikes in volume either high or low. Not sure if that’s normal if anyone has any insight but made automation a bit tricky. Curious on people opinion as well
Kyle( coyote) intro
Hello🤘🏻 new here. Watched a fix the mix. Pretty cool stuff. I am always curious how people make a living from the music industry, if anyone wanted to share. I do production of live events. Small and festivals like Coachella. But production of music is where my heart is.

Thanks everyone. You guys are passionate, love it! I have no doubt you guys are the leaders of your industry. Unfortunately it seem I work every time you guys do a live fix the mix. So it’s just replays at the moment, but I look forward to connecting.
Studio Monitors
I'm slowly but surely improving my listening environment. Looking into investing in some monitors within the next few months. I'm curious to know what monitors you all are using and what you like and dislike about them.
