For the Day 5 challenge, I decided to go ahead with a passion project idea I had been sitting on for a while and have created Pub Pulse — a crowdsourced price index for chicken parmas and pots/schooners across Melbourne pubs, inspired by Ireland's Guinness price tracker. It pulls together AI-scraped pub data, user submissions and data pulled using an AI voice agent to call the pubs to build a living leaderboard of where the value's real and where you're getting done. I decided to use Firebase rather than Vercel due to familiarity of the platform and can be accessed here — https://schoonerscan--schooner-scan.us-east4.hosted.app/parma-night While I have only done an initial seed of pubs in 2 suburbs in Melbourne, this has given me the motivation to finish putting together the voice agent and it will be starting to make calls over the next day or two to update initial prices. I found the use of 21st.dev to be particularly helpful in visually improving certain areas like the map and the carousel. While it may not be the most polished/professional looking site, that was actually intentional to give it a more subtle, less serious feel.
