Every Day Carry Watch Kit
It’s not really EVERY DAY, but there have been multiple occasions requiring me to pack up a little go kit for watches (my brother asks me to drop by and adjust a strap, a co-worker wants me to have a look, etc.). Inspired by the ethos of every day carry, I searched my gear for duplicates that could reasonably stay packed. The Bergeon/Swiss army case back remover is the pivotal piece. A great caseback tool plus a blade. Right next to that is a springbar and pin tool with a cheat upgrade; the tool was from a cheap Ali Express kit, but the tips are Bergeon replacements. I modified a corkscrew to hold two Victorinox mini tools. The red tool is a press. Sometimes a freehand push of a strap pin feels a little reckless. This offers more control. The Buck multi-tool picks up a number of other utilities. Finally, the pouch allows me to transport a watch in the kit without fear of scratching it in the tools. It was fun making it. I hope I get to use it soon.

A little mod can save it
I bought this Skmei from Ali express. Skmei is known for budget knock offs- This closely resembles the “Casi-Oak” in a metal finish. It came on a cheap bracelet- It was really uninspiring. I had it for months and never wore it. On time change day, I looked at it and wondered if it was the bracelet that I hated. I had a couple of these rubber straps for a Casio fit (narrow lug width with a flare). The lug width wasn’t the same, but it was an easy trim. On the strap- I kind of like it.

Someone’s got a thing for sub dials!
What a treat!
I just had this beauty on my bench. It belongs to a friend- didn’t know if it could be fixed. Turns out it was just a depleted capacitor. Took me longer to set the perpetual calendar than it did to change the capacitor.
What a treat!

@Oscar D Yeah, basically a battery change. I did a capacitor change on a Seiko kinetic… that’s not a simple change.
How is your collection going?
love seeing all the people in this community that have a collection of watches, I am still new to this and I am a work in progress. I am curious, how long did it take you to get to where you are in your collection of watches? Are you satisfied with your collection currently beside looking for the new and latest ? Now I am talking about your most significant and notable watches , you know the ones that is your go to and that you will always have wanted and had looked, waited, and pined for. I love to hear about your journey and what you are still looking for. Let’s have fun with this!

I seem to have found a good collection. I collected in a unique way. Firstly, I saved many of my old watches. The initial phase of collecting was to refurbish what I had and remember what I loved about them. They were $25, $50, $100 Timex watches. Phase 2 was picking up some notable Casios. - Still in the super economy bracket. Next was searching for used watches that needed work. I got my first G-Shock for $20. I settled here for a bit- bought some straps and bracelets, and did some more substantial modifications. Only then did I start thinking about a grail- I got some homage watches to get a feel for function and style before eventually getting my Bulova Lunar Pilot. My collection is now driven by my modification bug- I’m drawn to hopeless pieces that needed work to be saved- as I said- probably not a typical collector at all.
