So nice to stumble on a non-snobby wine community! My favorite style of wine at the moment is dry, crisp, and white - everything white, lol! I used to think white wine was boring, but I'm REALLY into learning about all the different varietals out there. Outside of wine, one thing I really enjoy is birdwatching, especially on Cape Cod. 😊
Always nice eating at a restaurant and seeing one of your wines on the wine list! Shows that Bistro Wines really does provide great restaurant-quality wines - no compromises! 👌
@Julius Guth I'm rather fond of the Southeastern CT ones - Stonington, Jonathan Edwards, Chamard. Paradise Hill in Wallingford makes some nice wines. Sharpe Hill in Pomfret is always pretty reliable. And please do try to get some wine from Truro Vineyards on Cape Cod if you can!
@Julius Guth You'd think they'd be similar, but you folks are much more temperate than New England, where we have wicked temperature extremes and a shorter growing season. For example, you all can grow Chardonnay pretty well in the south, we struggle with it here except for small pockets here and there.
Albarino is one of my favorite whites at the moment! The only notable difference between the Spanish and Portuguese is the name spelling. Pair it with pretty much anything you'd pair a Sauvignon Blanc or an unoaked Chardonnay with, but it really sings with seafood. Personally, I like to pair it with a glass. And maybe a bag of Lays potato chips. 🥂😊
