OPI stands for Oral Proficiency Interview. It's the military speaking test (I was an Arabic linguist for the Air Force). In this test, you must simply be able to answer questions in the target language. Level 3: Real life interaction. The previous two levels are all in preparation for... Level 3, which is conversing in real life. What this method is NOT, is another way to study. The first Core Principle of the method is that language learning is not about memorization, but expressing thoughts. Core Principle 2 is that language is a creative tool -- a Conversation Generator (I capitalize official terms). It's like a keyboard, or a piano, or a control panel ... you use the blocks of language to express thoughts.
