Here's what I learned from Goose & his team in Costa Rica
I won last month's Blitz challenge and got to go to Costa Rica for a few days with @Goose Dunlavey and his crew. And it was fucking awesome. We had monkeys climb on us on a river boat, ziplined thousands of feet up in the mountains with a view of the ocean, rode ATVs through rivers, ate amazing food, and had tons of great conversations. Here's what I learned: 1. Make business fun. The more fun you're having, the better the outcome. That's what makes Skool so special - community is about inside jokes and having fun, and we can monetize that! 2. Surround yourself with people who want you to win. Goose does this incredibly well. 3. Give, give, and give some more. People like @Kevin Gong and @William Milliken were freely helping everyone there. (Kevin you are fucking awesome dude, such a big heart. Really glad we met.) 4. Give your community a THEME! Even something that doesn't make sense. Especially something that doesn't make sense. Care bears and Shopify, The Last Airbender and Focus, Pokemon and Skool, Adventure Time and Social Confidence. It gives you something to bond with your members over, and makes you stand out. Be bold, be weird, have fun with it! 5. It's all about community. And Skool is the fuckin place to be for it. We also talked about LTV, churn rate, CAC, and all that good stuff. But that stuff is easy. The community piece is what makes all of those things possible. Community first, monetization second.
