Working hard and achieving your dreams.
Something I think it’s important to know as a young goalkeeper. (Hope it helps) Greatness as a goalkeeper doesn’t start under the bright lights, it starts when nobody is watching. From a young age, every save, every dive, every mistake is shaping the keeper you will become. The early years are where habits are built: your footwork, your positioning, your confidence, and most importantly, your mindset. Improving your game step by step when you’re young gives you a foundation that can’t be shaken later. Being a goalkeeper is more than just stopping shots. It’s about leadership, communication, bravery, and composure under pressure. These qualities don’t appear overnight they are developed through consistent training, learning from failure, and pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone. Every top goalkeeper you admire once started as a beginner, working on the basics, repeating drills, and believing in a dream that felt far away. The difference is they committed early to improving every single day. If you want to reach your goal as a goalkeeper, don’t wait for the ā€œright timeā€ start now. Embrace the process, stay disciplined, and never stop learning. Your future self will thank you for the work you put in today. The journey begins young, but the impact lasts a lifetime. 🧤⚽
Made it to the Netherlands
@Hadleigh Smith and Xavier survived the journey to the Netherlands, as did Donna and myself 🤣 (managed to catch an earlier ferry so arrived by 11am ish rather then 1pm) We have explored, the boys played target football, they pedalled our luggage up to our chalet as it was so far away, had a lovely meal and went swimming. Now bed as Xavier's got an early start, Hadleigh luckily has later KO times. Kirsty

Good luck 🧤
Verbally and physically assaulted!
I’m writing this so hopefully this doesn’t happen to anyone Else, Sundays game I had an altercation with a parent of my own team, how it came about was that his wife used to be 1 of the coaches her son also plays for us but she gave up the position and I took over, but on Sunday she was trying to undermine myself and the Head-coach by standing beside us and starting shouting at the boys and they were confused as to what was happening she also started shouting at one boy pointing the finger at him, to which I asked what was she doing and she replied that he’s not staying in his position and should be staying out on the wing, and I replied there’s no need to be picking him out as this is a learning curve and this is when they learn about mistakes and a gentle reminder is all that needs to be said, so she stated that myself and head coach were to soft, so I politely said that you are no longer a coach for this team or club and you should not be here shouting at the boys, next thing I knew was here husband came over towards myself very aggressively asking why I spoke to her in that way, to which I replied that she had an opinion as I do and she is not the coach anymore, and he replied that my opinion means sfa and then proceeded to grab my top and throw a punch at myself to which I pulled back from, my first instinct was to say stop as there are kids here right where it was happening he still kept on being aggressive so I said I’m away to call the police, so he went away still being aggressive abusive language saying he’s going to smash my face! My eyes were filling up when the boys were asking are you ok coach, So now the police have gotten a statement and also the club they have contacted the league ADJFA so now they have to contact the SFYA to get them both banned from all of our club games, so after any comments I will be taking a short break just to get my head back in the mindset of things as I was totally rocked by this situation still a bit shaky 🧤
Wow, @Jeffrey Milburn thats so sad to read and why should we tolerate people who are like that. I often see parents shouting instructions to kids on the pitch which is not great from a coach perspective, as we are giving them certain instructions on how to play. Nobody should have to go through that, especially when we are giving our time up (for free) to coach these teams. Don’t let it get you down mate, head up.šŸ’ŖšŸ»
@Jeffrey Milburn that’s great to hear. šŸ‘šŸ»
Injuries
And just like that Reevah’s seasons comes to an end. After playing Cardiff last night. She put herself on the line so many times to keep the away side out and one shoot was too many and she ended up fracturing her wrist and thumb bone. 8 weeks out now šŸ¤¦šŸ»šŸ„ŗšŸ§¤. It’s a keepers life unfortunately and these things happen.

Thank you all, very kind words. Reevah appreciates all the kind comments. That’s why keepers sticking together is important 🧤
