Homeschooling chose me, and even with a neurodivergent kid we tried everything. The kids are grown now, so I’m sharing our test‑fail‑fix journey.

A central space for all BCR TechED students to connect, attend office hours, and access learning and career opportunities.

Signs and Markers
Have you ever looked back on something and realized the signs and markers were there all along. From the day my youngest son was born, his existence in the world was hard to ignore. …and I’ve always been curious to know if other families of extraordinary kiddos experienced any of the same signs and markers. Incessant crying. Night terrors. Brilliant… genius level ability to problem solve, build and engineer at an incredibly young age, sensitivities to scents and colors (yes colors) , oh and day care centers saying he couldn’t return. As young parents we didn’t know what to make of the things we were experiencing. We knew our kiddo was different, but the signs and markers we were given should have prepared us for what was to come….it didn’t. Has there ever been a moment in your journey that only made sense in hindsight?

Sharing From Experience (Figuring It Out as We Go)
Over the years, I’ve kept a journal—mostly as a way to make sense of our journey as a family, especially while raising a child who never quite fit the mold. I’ve decided to start sharing short excerpts from those journal entries here. Not as advice, not as conclusions—but as reflections. Each week, I’ll share a brief entry to spark conversation, recognition, or simply quiet thought. If something resonates, you’re welcome to share your own experience or just sit with it. Now, if you’d like, introduce yourself and share a moment from your own journey that you’re still making sense of.
