I need this now....
Most authors think readers stop scrolling for books. They don't. They stop for feelings. And there are exactly three psychological triggers that make it happen. Malorie breaks them down 👇 1. Pattern Interruption The brain is wired to ignore the expected and notice the unexpected. If your ad looks like every other ad in the feed, it registers as background noise. Something slightly off — an unexpected color, an unusual composition, a surprising image — and the brain flags it. What was that? 2. Emotional Recognition Readers don't stop for books. They stop for feelings they've had before. An image that evokes longing, tension, warmth, or danger triggers recognition: "I know that feeling. I want more of that feeling." That's your in. 3. Curiosity Gaps The human brain hates incomplete information. An image that implies a story without telling it creates an itch that can only be scratched by clicking. You're not selling a book — you're opening a question. 🎯 Your challenge: Look at your current ad image. Which of these three does it trigger? If you're not sure or think your ad is missing the mark, join our next 8 week workshop for Get Fluent in FB Ads: Scroll Stopping Creative. @Jill Cooper LOL I probably am. At this point, I sometimes look at these groups as if they are just one big family. I am hanging onto the back of a cart rolling downhill fast, so everything is a just-in-time acquisition and I gravitate toward what I need at the moment. 😂 Thanks, Jill. I'll check it out.

@Kimberly Hill Been doing okay from the ad perspective. First ad I set on series 1/Book 3 (Christmas release) worked great at first, then began to taper off. So when book 3 was ready to release in series 1, I copied the ad from series 1 to a new ad set for book 1/series 1 and that took off and was doing good, so I turned off the original ad on book 3. Put out book 2 in another series, so I decided to copy same ad and set it up to book 1 in series 2 and that one is doing really good. I lost money at a 3-1 ratio in first month, dropped to 2-1 losses in second month, this month is third month and will be my first month of actual profit and I expect to end the month with my ad spend eating up about 2/3 of my royalties...and that is a huge win for me. I did realize that I need to get more books out there that are clearly in a "lane" and ad-worthy, so I shifted my focus to that while keeping an eye on the two ads I'm running right now. The ad I put out on Series 2 is outperforming series 1 ad and I think royalties are also being affected by better covers and the fact that the books in that series are 90-100K rather than 50-60K. So page read royalties have jumped to twice what my sales royalties are. So I'm seeing shifts and learning things with regard to how the ad flow works, while trying to get more books out the door and properly aligned so my ads will have something to work with. Thanks for checking on me. I'm still above water. LOL
Ads feel way scarier than they actually are
I remember when the idea of running FB ads felt way bigger than it needed to be. Not because of the tech, but because I was afraid of “doing it wrong” and wasting money. Curious if that’s what makes ads feel intimidating for others too, or if it’s something else?

I agree with Peta. I attempted it years ago and it was a tremendous flop because I did not know anything about what I was doing. Then they changed the process and I was lost, so I gave up because it seemed like it wasn't working anyway. What I did see was that it didn't take my money nearly as fast as Amazon, but it felt like smoke and mirrors because I couldn't see the direct connection between FB serving ads and my Amazon sales. Of course, I can't see that on Amazon either because their stats on sales really don't tell me anything. I just have to guess where the sales are coming from. But I think it was easier to walk away from FB back then because the cost of clicks on Amazon wasn't as insane as it is now. My books seem to resonate with readers who read big name authors, but I can't compete with the bids at that level and make any money. If I want to pay $2 a click, I can sell books...But my pocketbook won't withstand that for very long because I'm just bleeding cash. So now I'm back to try FB again. :) And while I encountered a full day of issues (my own creation), it is much less intimidating now. Part of my issue with FB is listening to the wrong people. Everyone has a different opinion...and they all seem to be wrong. So I decided to spend the money to learn from someone who knows what they are talking about.
Testing out a new image....
What do you think? I think I need different text for the top. Maybe 'Your Ad dashboard' or something. Still a concept!

I actually think even the top one looks better than my sales funnel! Making me hungry.

I have a question. The last video in this module mentions the option of creating new blurbs on Amazon. If I create a new blurb for my book on the Amazon side, how long does it take Amazon to update it? And should I turn my ad off until it is updated? Any chance someone might click and end up nowhere? Just curious about the logistics.

Hey there! I write paranormal and western romance. Dragging myself kicking and screaming into marketing. Not my thing. I don't wanna. But I gotta.
