My Empire Starting Point - Kavya
Hi everyone! Joining you all from Mumbai, India π So happy to be here. I've been dancing salsa since 2017, with a few breaks in between. I started out learning On1, and within six months I began training On2 as well. @Adolfo Indacochea @Tania Cannarsa you've been my inspiration from back then (IIDC Bangalore, 2017) to pursue dancing mambo and during COVID, joining MVA really helped me work on my basics β¨ I've been more consistent in the last couple of years with my dancing. Right now, there are a few things that I struggle with and really want to focus on: 1. Turns and spins - Iβd love to refine my technique and feel more stable and controlled, especially when doing multiple spins, whether in shines or partnerwork. I want to execute them cleanly and confidently. 2. Arm control and connection - My arms, especially from the elbow down, sometimes get loose or floppy while Iβm dancing. I want to build better control and make my arm styling feel more intentional, precise, and connected to my body movement. 3. Confidence, musicality, and personal styling - I also want to work on looking and feeling more confident when I dance. Iβd love to develop stronger personal styling and expression, while deepening my understanding of the music so I can interpret it more intentionally and clearly in my movement. I would place myself at an intermediate level, but Iβm very keen on revisiting the fundamentals and really cleaning up my technique. Over the next 12 months, I hope to see significant improvement in my spins, arm and body movement, confidence, musical interpretation, and overall personal expression on the dance floor and on stage. Attaching a video from Tania's class this week along with my basic :) Thanks for creating this community!
