I feel like when people use “hustle,” they’re not describing disciplined, well-designed effort. They’re describing a felt state: - urgency without clarity - motion without confidence - “I don’t know what will work yet, so I’ll do everything” Even people who defend hustle culture often redefine it mid-argument to mean something more respectable (discipline, consistency, commitment) because the raw version sounds ambiguous... Personally, I don’t love when people describe what I’m doing in my business as “hustling.” Yes, I work hard and put in long hours when needed. But I’m building a business, not a hustle... And yes, hustling/building a business is certainly not for everyone - I've talked to many folks in my coaching conversations who work for companies and have no desire to do their own thing. Not because they aren't driven or afraid, they are just wired a little differently than entrepreneurial types.
