Reflect on your perception
Your perception determines your actions. But what shapes your perception? Stress? Habits? Expectations? Question: What influences the way you see things? I'm looking forward to read your answers and discuss with you 😊

My experience and the patterns I've noticed shape how I see things. I'm aware that through selective perception, my reality is different from that of other people. I tend to believe in the good and I trust people. Sometimes this leads to conflicts, and sometimes to wonderful moments. Sometimes I get hurt and my judgment is completely off. But the positive experiences still outweigh the negative ones. Sometimes my brain takes the easy path and adapts my perception to fit my experiences, just like a puzzle. That's why I'm glad to examine these patterns more closely, to understand them on a deeper level, and learn new ways to react.
Are you constantly optimizing?
Modern culture trains us to optimize. Be faster. Be better. Be ahead. But something gets lost: depth clarity connection Embodied philosophy is not about improving yourself. It’s about meeting yourself. Question: Where in your life do you feel caught in optimization?

I hate that urge to constantly tweak and perfect. Working on yourself makes sense if you actually want to change, and optimizing can help when the intent is honest and the goals are realistic. But the external pressure and constant comparison wreck it. Listen to yourself and do what actually feels right for you. Enjoy the moment, enjoy your flaws, and improve things when it feels good. 🧡

@Björn Pospiech Both. The imposter effect is real for me. It's that voice that says I don't actually know enough, that I'm going to be exposed, that I'm not qualified to be in this position. The pressure builds when I internalize their expectations as truth rather than as their projection onto me. The interesting part is recognizing that their belief in my expertise often says more about what they need from me than about what I actually am. Once I see that difference, the pressure lessens a bit. I can acknowledge their expectation without taking it as a fact about myself or trying to be perfect and optimize everything to meet their expectations.
Mechanism of Transformation
Practice shapes perception. Perception shapes action. Action shapes identity. Identity shapes relationships. This is how change happens. Not by thinking differently. But by experiencing things differently. Question: Where do you see this in your life?

The turning point came when I realized I was far too hard on myself. I was extending kindness to others while wielding criticism against myself with a heavy hand. Once I noticed this pattern, my actions began to change. I started practicing self-compassion alongside acceptance of others. Being more relaxed and mindful with myself wasn't weakness. It was the only way to sustain genuine presence in my relationships. This shift in action created a ripple effect.
What is Embodied Philosophy?
Embodied philosophy is not thinking about life. It is living it through the body. Not ideas. But experience. Not concepts. But capability. You don’t just understand something. You can access it. Here you find the definitions and explanations: Glossary Encyclopedia (more detailed for paying members) Question: Where do you understand something but cannot live it?

Where do I understand something but can’t live it? Sadly, in many areas of my life. It is so frustrating to know the right thing to do or how to react and then have your body or mind refuse to cooperate. Triggers, old patterns and physical limits are real. For example, in martial arts I know that for a specific jump kick my knee must be higher but my body just will not cooperate. Another example is stressful situations where I have the tools to calm down, rethink and choose my response yet the old patterns sometimes win. However, I truly believe if you are gentle with yourself and give yourself space to grow you can change more than you think.
Welcome!
This is not a place to collect ideas. It's a place to experience them. This month, we will be exploring: What does it mean to live philosophy, rather than just think about it? Start here: 1) Who are you? 2) What brought you here? 3) What are you curious about? Then respond to one post. That’s enough.

Hi, I am Katrin :) Martial arts have enriched my life in many ways. It strengthened my body, sharpened my mind, and opened new paths to discover myself. I'm curious for personal growth, for sharing experiences, and for walking the path alongside others. I'd love to connect with people, learn new perspectives, and perhaps uncover a little more about myself along the way.
